Mtx prices are INSANE!
I've spent 500$+ on HotS, LoL and another 500$ on GW2.
If you allow me to spend for skins and custom gear, I will definitely spend a lot. Unfortunately everytime I get giddy and try to spend on the MTX store, I get this feeling that I'm not getting enough for my money. So I often end up not spending anything. Don't get me wrong, I've already spent more than 200$ on PoE but at this point in any other game I would have spent 500$. Using how many people you see with cool MTX gear to help your argument is absolutely wrong. I have head to toe, MTX gear. Spent a hundred bucks just for that one set of armor. I would have three or four sets by now if the prices weren't so insane. So even if you see me walking around with that shiny gear, I would have spent more, definitely. If you guys can come up with any other game that sells a single piece of decorative armor for 30$ or a complete set for 100$ then maybe you can start arguing that their prices aren't insane. Right now, all other games have a similar MTX price chart, 20$ for a complete skin. Being F2P doesn't mean quadrupling the MTX prices, there are plenty of F2P games with MTX around as examples. As a last comment, I'd like to put it into perspective. 100$ will get you the best and latest "triple A" game with some change to spare. You are literally buying a skin that is worth an entire, high-quality game. If that was the only time they ask for 100$ per skin to justify the price of the "F2P" game then sure, I'd understand that. But even if you spent 200$ on the game, it's still asking for 100$ per skin. At that point the whole F2P argument is out of the window. (The argument that prices are that high to compensate for the fact that it is F2P) I think we all disagree with the prices, some people just aren't affected so they don't care and the few others are in denial. PoE isn't unique, there are plenty of similar case around and their prices aren't like PoE. Now excuse me while I go spend another 50$ on the game because I'm that kind of sucker. |

I just dropped $4,700 on tires and $2,800 on new heads for the buggy. That puts the engine to $20,000 just in itself.
$60 for a video game? I wish all my hobbies were that cheap. haha And the white guys says, I'll have a Coke then.

My boss has spent over 10k on summoners war, a gacha mobile game. MTX is fine. You arent forced to spend. Editado por útlima vez por AverageSCEnjoyer#3952 en 21 dic. 2018 9:42:40

I've seen this discussion quite often; here's how I see it:
Most of us spend much, MUCH, more money on crap. Little things, negligible things, that on their own are not much, but add them all up and you'd be shocked; also note that these things are not mandatory. Dropping 20-30$ dollars on a completely FREE game that you enjoy is nothing to complain about. |

Lots of commentary back and forth, but the bottom line is that MTX's are selling. The loot boxes are working. (As Charan mentioned)
For me it does "feel" different now. Years and years ago it felt like our support was helping the game along, like we were part of something pretty different in the industry. I used to look at the support packs and points and say "yea it's kinda pricey, but I'm helping them out, and playing many hundreds of hours" It was at least some what justifiable. I'm on the fence with these new supporter packs. I think the $240 is probably the best deal, but maybe that's because I'm not feeling the last pack. However, it doesn't escape me, that GGG doesn't really need this kind of support anymore, and now it seems sorta predatory. Or if that's too strong, at least totally unwarranted at this point. But shit, this is what you get with capatiltlsm. (Winks at Tencent) "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

I played WoW for years.
$60 each new expansion - typically once each year. $14.99/mo subscription. Blizzard MTX - $25 for the newest mount. For a year of gameplay and a single mount purchase during that year with World of Warcraft, you're looking at: $60 x ($15 x 12) + $25 = $265 Still feel like MTX w/POE are too expensive? I sure don't. |

No issues with them milking the top end here.
However GGG need to remember the bulk of the community would be very interested in $5 supporter packs with a full costume set, they dont need to be flashy like the $60-$500 pack of course. GGG should absolutely explore giving some value to the large amount of $5-$10 spenders that are in game but dont spend because they cant/dontwant to spend the $30 min on a support pack for some fun cosmetics. Granted with your new chinese overlords it may be impossible to make it profitable. just for try, for see and for know

They are a bit Insane.....
What also is Insane is that this game is 100% free and they continue to pump out quality content every three months. Almost unheard of now a days in the Activation/EA state of the PC game world. |
