Mtx prices are INSANE!

Love the game so I’m supporting TencentGGG as much as can. But damn the mtx are expensive.

And now support goes to chinese

not exactly.

ggg uses player's support to pay for servers, office rent, taxes, developer and staff salaries as well as software licenses and new equipment.

what is left is going to the ones having shares in the company, the majority of them being in tencent's hands, that's true

I can't help but wonder if this is the type of situation other folks have found themselves in.

yes, i treat the game like it's paywalled, results in me sitting on 1000 points on average.

i played every league since 2012 and it's just that the money i would have spent on other games (~20$ per month) went completely into poe.

eventually over 1k$ seem to be alot of money but it's been 8 years of good entertainment.

i would have spent the same or more on a WoW subscription

Betrayal packs will be the last I buy if the prices don't step down to reason. I gladly spent hundreds of euros in a 1 and a 1/2 year span but PoE is not an indie game anymore. So I'll be heard with my wallet. It's time for a change GGG. If not, well count me out money-wise.
A cheap alternative would be a skin transfer, combined with a nice looking ingame armour like Lioneye's Vision, which was used as a template for one of the Bestiary armour sets.

In the early years it did feel like I overpaid because I wanted to get this game off the ground, you know, indie company and all. The fan base in 2012 was very small. They were making a good product, and I wanted them to have more than a shoestring budget. The overpriced MTX were justified in that way, in my eyes.

But now it seems like if I went for the most expensive packs, I’m getting ripped off. Selling shares to Tencent netted GGG a good sum for certain, and I’m thinking, “ Do I really need to do this?” when it comes to packs. That feeling of altruism wanes when the other party is less than needy.

I played WoW for years.

$60 each new expansion - typically once each year.

$14.99/mo subscription.

Blizzard MTX - $25 for the newest mount.

For a year of gameplay and a single mount purchase during that year with World of Warcraft, you're looking at:

$60 x ($15 x 12) + $25 = $265

Still feel like MTX w/POE are too expensive?

I sure don't.

$15 a month, $180 a year.

14 years, $2,520.

7 Expansions + Vanilla, $480.

Server transfers, name changes, etc, ~$400.

Total ~$3,580.

huh. never actually did the math on that.

So glad nobody caught the (x) after the $60. That should have been $60 + ($12 x $15) + $25... lol.

Glad you took the time to add it all up, too! It's crazy when you look at it like that. Blizzard eventually made it so you could buy sub tokens with in-game gold, and while the idea started out amazingly, the price of those tokens quickly skyrocketed out of most casual players' reach.

Anyway....

I'm new to PoE, but my plan is to buy a supporter pack with each new league. It's the least I could do, I think.

I wish people would stop knocking GGG for their means of earning money. Personally, I think it's amazing. They allow US to decide how much we think we should pay for one of the best ARPGs ever to grace our machines? Pfft. Quitcherbitchin!
