Hi all!

I have been playing poe since betrayal but i'm still noob at everything, so sorry if i'm going to ask some silly question. Cyclone is going to be a channeling skill this season, so why dont you get the "Charging offensive" node in the passive tree?

Thanks! =)

Not enough points. If you take that, you need to get 5 passives from somewhere else. And I don't see anything that is worse than Charged Offensive where we could get those 5 points. The damage gained is mediocre. And we will have constant Endurance and Frenzy charges anyway from Leap Slam + EC on stun and Blood Rage.

How about this two wheels? They seems pretty legit to take.

I fear the melee meta overall will do that. The only item that is "unique" to this build and Cyclone is Daressos Salute. That shouldn't be too expensive, Anarchy is in the Zana mods and there is the div card that drops in Colosseum.
A few points to the questions flooding this thread:

- WHAT DO I USE BEFORE CYCLONE:
Literally, use anything you want and experiment! Try stuff out, maybe you'll even fall in love with another skill? All melee skills have been buffed, and all now deal minor splash/AoE by default, you can play around and have fun.

- MANA COST: the patch has slashed the mana cost of Cyclone significantly to be more in line with other melee abilities, you won't struggle as much as you did before while leveling. When in doubt, simply bring a manaflask.

- WHY RESOLUTE TECHNIQUE: first of all, RT is the default node to go for in melee starters and for low budget gear, you simply can skip accuracy on gear which is invaluable early on.

*GOING CRIT AND ACCURACY IS FAR MORE EXPENSIVE, AND NOT A GOOD OPTION TO START WITH* (also requires very different tree and item setup)

- BUDGET GEAR: basically, you should learn how to use PoB yourself and/or to evaluate gear for yourself. But if you want a simple list of uniques, google any list of "good leveling uniques". For weapons, simply upgrade every 10-15 levels or so to the next higher phys dam unique.
Limbsplit for example will carry for 15-20 levels easily.

- WHY AXES: the difference between axes and swords is minimal in endgame, swords are what you go for if you want to build Crit (due to the pathing on the tree and the nodes involved). You can technically build this around Maces or Staves as well. For early days, simply don't fill in any WEAPON TYPE-SPECIFIC NODES yet until the end, and go with what you find yourself or on the market cheaply as upgrades (yes, there are good Staves to use even).

- GEAR IS TOO EXPENSIVE/CHEAP GEAR: the gear used in the PoB is theoretical endgame BiS. It deals so much damage that endgame content becomes trivial, like pretty much any decent build in that sort of gear. So do not take those values as numbers you "have to have". You can deal a third (!) of the simulated DPS and still very comfortably do all endgame content. It is good to show what is *possible* and what you can aim for in endgame - you want something to grind and farm for, don't you?

As for gear, this league will be melee meta. *Good* melee gear will be far more expensive than in past leagues, and even basic melee leveling gear will be in far higher demand than usual.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED - IF YOU PLAY THE FLAVOUR OF THE MONTH, PREPARE TO PAY THE PRICE

What is the general rationale behind NOT going for Overwhelm and/or Impact? Would Crit Cyclone be feasible with similar dps?

This setup uses Resolute Technique.
Ergo, no crit. Also, the accuracy from Impact would be wasted.

Crit builds are just as viable or can scale higher, but require very different tree setup, better with swords, and are generally much more expensive to gear, especially early on (you need more rolls on your gear to make it as good or better).

It's entirely possible to go Crit and use those two nodes, but you will have to build very differently and use gear that is usually not available early on. It's something to look into later on in the league potentially!

Also you'll be losing out on the defensive value of the Brutal Fervour path, stun+bleed immunity, damage reduction, overleech and "free" damage that isn't tied to crits.

Got it, thanks.

One more question tho, the current build for PoB says 127/123 skill points, is that a bug with the tree or something?

pob has extra jewel with all 3.7 buffs
To be honest i wont use Kaoms armor cause it big waste of slots, we have a lot so good gems now.

Dunno what armor, maybe:
Carcass Jack (BUT FUCK EXTRA GORE)
Belly of the Beast
or
Daresso's Defiance.

Daresso would be great because give big dps from Onslaught and have good armor so i can use molten shell with big shiled that will recompensate me taht life from kaoms.. What do you think folks?
