Standard League is the best league.

On to temporary leagues. They are awful

Stopped reading there. I was all about standard until my guild talked me into trying Domination, and I love it to pieces. I see the appeal, and there IS appeal.

Writing it off as "awful" without any explanation whatsoever lost you any credibility.

My reasoning followed that statement but you stopped reading lol.

Your reasoning makes no sense, if you play standard league then playing domination doesn't make you lose anything. And you just claim that fresh economies are shit because you can't cheaply gear up enough to steamroll the content? Sounds boring to do that and only someone who doesn't like a challenge would say that.

ignoring everything else, this is wrong.

at the end of the domination and nemesis, all the chars. and stash on those leagues will get moved to their parent league, standard for domination and hardcore for nemesis. Stash tabs get added on as extra temporary remove only tabs, that vanish when the last item is removed.

you loose nothing at the end of 4 months if you played on one of those leagues.

A lot of people claim their characters on standard are just collecting dust. If every 4 months you are playing on the new leagues than the stuff you have on standard might as well be non existent.

For all the new players who were put in the temporary league by default I am sure a good number of them will continue playing their old characters once the league ends. I was referring to the people who go from temp league to temp league without spending any time on standard.

How is the fact that your internet sucks a point against hardcore? that's a point against your internet

True enough but it is something that for the most part can't be helped. Sure I could lose my 2 months deposit to move to a newer place and get good internet, but who would do that for a game?

People who play hardcore are people who give up. If their character fails to cope with something new the first time they just abandon that character as a failure. They don't try to adjust their passive tree or change their play style. Nope, 1 death and done.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever read, and totally the opposite of the truth. Do you honestly believe people would make it to level 90+ on a hardcore league if they did not learn from their previous deaths? We have to know everything there is to know about this game, we have to know all the mods, stats and possible combinations. Because if we don't, we die. And then we lose everything and we have to start all over. You will learn more from hardcore deaths than you ever will on standard. Once you lose a high level character that you valued so much you will never again make the same mistake that led to your death. And it's not just your own deaths that you learn from, you learn from other people's mistakes. For example, Havoc recently lost a high level character to the Plateau map boss with the chain map mod. Do you think he, or anyone who watched the death vid, will roll those map mods again?

Another example is Kripp's wander death in early open beta, after he died to the double boss corpse explode on the Springs map, nobody would roll double boss on it ever again. Or if they did, they'd watch out before moving in to collect the loot. Whenever I link a Springs with double boss, the first thing people say is 'remember Kripp?'.

That's funny. The first Exalt I found in Nemesis, do you know what I bought with it? 27 Orbs of Regret. And then immediately used 26 of them.

There's a difference between adjusting your strategy before you fail and adjusting it after you fail.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
I know GGG released the percentages of players in each league at some point and if I'm not mistaken most of the players were in Domination and Nemesis. I think that speaks for itself.

You can only adjust preemptively for known problems. The only way to adjust for the unforeseen is after the fact. That is why I used MMO raids as an analogy.

Standard and the temp leagues were around the same. But GGG set the temp softcore league as default when making a new character. So most of the new players went there. If you think the majority of them will reroll when they end you have another thing coming.

Domination: 51.3%
Nemesis: 20.5%
Standard: 25.6%
Hardcore: 2.6%

Sorry to break it to you but this game doesn't play like an MMO. You don't make one character and stick with it for years. Sure some play it like that but I think the majority will either get bored and quit (especially when the next level requires you to do 200 level 71 maps or the next gear upgrade costs 100 exalted) or roll out a new character with a different build/playstyle, maybe try a different league or some races.
