Standard League is the best league.

There is a lot f hate and disdain for standard league so I've decided voice my support for it.

First a point against hardcore league. Desync is a very real thing. I play in Singapore in an old condo, an old condo that does not have fiber optics set up. It doesn't matter that I have an alienware laptop, when the max internet speed is 15mbps down and 1mbps up and I am playing from the shitty hidden Singapore gateway eventually I will desync and I will probably die.

should I reroll every time that happens? Ridiculous.

Another point against hardcore, in an mmo when you are facing against a new boss in a raid you will die while first learning the fight. You don't throw in the towel at your first death. That is not "learning from your mistakes" that is giving up at the first sign of trouble. It is the same in PoE. People who play hardcore are people who give up. If their character fails to cope with something new the first time they just abandon that character as a failure. They don't try to adjust their passive tree or change their play style. Nope, 1 death and done.

On to temporary leagues. They are awful and only people who don't care about their time play them. I don't plan on playing for only 4 months so playing on a temporary league means losing all my progress every 4 months. My character, my gear, my sweet sweet currency, my map pool, MY TIME.

Supporters of temporary leagues will claim they like the fresh economy. The problem is fresh economy's are shit. Items that would be considered vendor trash on standard sell for multiple chaos. Sure godly gear in standard costs an upgodly amount of currency but when it comes to decent gear to good gear there is no place to get it cheaper.

finally there are legacy items. Not just uniques but also craftables like +20 onyx amulets and 12% prismatic rings. Unless you are playing in temporary leagues just to avoid the jealousy of competing with people with more wealth than you decked out in legacy items than why play on a temp league?

So you may call Standard League names like trash league, fart league, scrubcore, etc. But I know Standard League's real name. Best League.

I prefer standard league for pretty much the same reasons.

I don't play softcore. But I like the fact that it is there cuz it's populated and show that the game is very popular.

the HC community is smaller than 10% of the whole PoE player base.

I wouldn't like to know that without softcore the game couldn't live for long for financial reasons.

So YES softcore is important to me no matter who plays it. It's a different game.

Edit: But I disagree with you saying "its the best league" there is NO best league, or it's best for a point of view.

In softcore you can go man mode to stress test a new build or another piece of gear.

In hardcore you have to re-roll often for more replay-ability.

To each his own mode and reasons to play it.

If it's the best league for you, it doesn't really matter what I think of it. Enjoy!

Standard has some advantages that you've laid out. I agree with the permanence and the ease of getting 95th percentile gear.

I like playing Domination, though, because right now I'm going for the Challenges. I have one character in Nemesis that I'd like to get to 70 or so as well - this is fun as a different kind of challenge. Haven't really played much Standard since release, tbh.

Eventually I'll probably get back to Standard, because the end game is exciting too in it's own way, and it's fun to play it with your best geared character. But in the mean time, it's fun to focus on different things to keep the game interesting. I'm also just starting to do races which are a different kind of challenge.

The only league I just don't really see any reason playing is Hardcore. It's just too dead at this point, and it has it's own share of economic trash from the race survivors, so the only reason I can see to play Hardcore is you want to really, really slowly self-find your way through the game. If so, more power to you!

Stopped reading there. I was all about standard until my guild talked me into trying Domination, and I love it to pieces. I see the appeal, and there IS appeal.

Writing it off as "awful" without any explanation whatsoever lost you any credibility.

ignoring everything else, this is wrong.

at the end of the domination and nemesis, all the chars. and stash on those leagues will get moved to their parent league, standard for domination and hardcore for nemesis. Stash tabs get added on as extra temporary remove only tabs, that vanish when the last item is removed.

you loose nothing at the end of 4 months if you played on one of those leagues.
