PoE client as Torrent download

Why not let people either directly download OR download it through a torrent? The main reason is that with torrents, it costs more bandwidth for the downloader so i believe that it should be their choice but GGG could strongly recommend the torrent download.

A torrent download would be very helpful depending on how big the game will be. It will allow people to turn of their PC, come back to it and begin the torrent from where it last finished.

Direct download is suitable if the game is small enough to download in one sitting - i mean i don't want to download the game over a couple of hours - that just annoys others that want to use the computer.

Chris told me in another thread that the size of PoE is 2gb at the moment. I believe that as long as your internet is decent, it should be only an hour maximum. (depending on the sites traffic that is).

Hehe, well you obviously don't live in Australia. I have one of the fastest internets we can get atm. 2gb will take me around 2 - 3 hours to download... if i'm lucky.

A university in Sydney found a new way to transfer data through the internet quicker than any other way heard of (10 seconds to download every episode of lost!!!) so in a few years Australia might have the fastest in the world (unless if they start it in the US or europe for more money) I live in NZ and can get up to around 1.2mb per second with an expensive plan. although the number I gave is subject to change depending on the number of people online in your area, the number of people downloading the software AND both your broadband and the uploaders broadband.

I would expect that GGG would use the normal file shares, FilePlanet, Gamershell, possibly even hotfile/ fileserve/ rapidshare?

Would make it universally accessible as most file host have distributed servers around the world ie. gamershell

Game download is ~2Gb currently. This will go up as more content is added. Expect it to be ~4Gb by the time open beta comes around.

4 gig will take a bit longer so I understand a torrent completely but I still think that It would be best for people to choose for themselves.
