Stupid logic against nerfs, logout macros etc...

i dont play in hardcore cause my internet can be dodgy at times and will simply just lose internet connection to my modem right out of the blue. tried getting a new modem and router but its actually on my isp's end and they wont do anything to fix their node

plus im not gods gift to the gaming world so id be dieing all the time in hardcore before i ever made it to higher level maps. i really feel like a logout macro would be hindering me. i feel like it would be a hinderance to me and more of a noob crutch, making me want to rely on having my finger over it instead of ever adapting and getting better. that doesnt very feel very hardcore to me.

im perfectly content with scrubbing it out in standard. just got my molten strike jugg to 98. i finally died to some kind of random damage spike and explosion the other day in a delve i really dont know what happened it occured too quick to react but other than that i find the build really hard to kill and the only time i really die is when im drunk and accidentilly run a map with ele reflect

but ill be the first to admit, ill never git good enough to ever make it in hardcore. but if i did i still wouldnt want to use a macro. im destined to die anyways and some macro probably isnt going to do much if my connection just drops.

plus i feel like id be repeating the same easy content over and over and avoiding any real challenge because of having to lose everything and start again if shit goes south.

thats where i stand on the macro thing anyways. i dont care if others use it but i know its not something i would tend to use otherwise i would probably make a bad habit of it and start to rely on it. it wouldnt really feel as satisfying to me if i pushed a character to a high level and knew i macro'd out to avoid probable death 5 or 6 times or whatever.

i dont really have an issue with it though. if it helps people avoid death due to a lag spike, then power to the player i guess

Temeritas, what you're asking is for a character to stand around defenseless for several seconds after logout no matter what. This is essentially equivalent to "if you lose connection at any time for any reason in a combat area - legitimate connection trouble or not - your Hardcore character dies."

You may as well skip the middleman and simply program it into the game - connection drops unexpectedly in a combat zone? Character automatically moves to Standard, regardless of whether it was attacked or not. Because having the character standing around with its thumb up its ass for half a minute regardless of how you lose connection is pretty much exactly identical to simply making it a hardcoded rule than any connection interruptions equal a drop to Standard.

The way you're asking Grinding Gear to do it, hardcore becomes the exclusive purview of those with ironclad internet in countries with Neutrality protections. No dice. If that was what Grinding Gear/the hardcore guys wanted, it would've been done that way.

Thats the way it is though if you actually DC ?

All i'm suggesting is that any intentional connection interrupt has the same delay as an unintentional one. This way you will not notice any changes if you don't use the macro, as there won't be any.

But you couldnt use the macro anymore to cheat. Because if you actually DC you cant use the macro anyway, though there is no issue.

@Sarno:

Tbh i'm fed up with your bad faith arguing. You are harping on a point that has nothing to do with the actual point that was made and on top of that bring up false equivalency. One is 2 actions (determining coordinates and using a skill) the other has to either read the ram or the videooutput to detect the hp level and perform an independent action.

If you are that intent on beeing right, congratz I dont want to bother argueing with people that either dont want to read, cant comprehend or misrepresent on purpose what someone else wrote. So i guess you won your fantasy arguement.
The Bestiary league proved once and for all, that GGG only listens to crying instead of well thought out criticism.

I'm not arguing in bad faith (and I resent the suggestion); I'm correcting misinformation I see on the forum in an attempt to ensure people have accurate advice on what is and is not permitted - partially because of how opaque GGG's policies on macros are.

I assumed you would be okay with someone correcting you, given that the discussion literally began with you correcting Shagsbeard - albeit inaccurately.

Wow... lots of people crying about nerfs with the usual stupid arguments today... and before we even know the numbers. Typical. I found pretty much everything in the manifesto to be a step in the right direction for a healthier game. (Lots more steps to go though)

Keep up the good work ggg. Dont let them get to you!
