What's your favourite type of sword?

Any sword featuring an unscrewable pommel.

The one and only:

I was so excited when I got Frostmourne, but was confused and probably a bit frustrated that the next time you got Arthas this legendary sword of ultimate power did like no damage lol.

I'm pretty sure I was way too young to appreciate RTS game balance

Gotta be prepared to end him rightly at any time.

Practically speaking, the only swords I ever use are the tiny plastic ones some places will stick into cherries.

Mmmm cherries.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
Cocktail swords are a great choice, both practically and realistically. And the cherry is nearly a pommel in its own right, just stuck in the wrong end.

This is a widespread misconception about rapiers. Unlike some other related but in fact rather different swords, rapiers are quite sturdy and are a bit on the heavy side as far as swords go due to their great length.

Rapiers are substantial and not easy to cut through or snap

Cutting through a rapier with another sword - possible?

Of course, a rapier - or any sword at all, for that matter - is hardly an ideal weapon to use against an animal. The reason is, you may very well run the animal through, but it might still manage to reach you and do bad things to you. Even lethal wounds aren't immediately lethal.

Talking about boars, it's not by coincidence that the spears used for boar hunting had cross guards - to stop the boar from reaching you.

Thanks for the videos, it was informative.

I kinda confused a rapier with a foil...
Spoiler

But after watching the video I came to understand that assuming that even a foil might break as easily as I thought is wrong.

Although my respect for the rapier raised, I still wouldn't pick it unless I was sure I would use against other people. The range is appealing, and can be a life saver, but I think I'm more comfortable wielding something more "brutish".

Just my preference for chopping ;)
I like ones which are best for piercing, thrusting, and penetration.
