I've had some training in unarmed combat and I've watched a lot of HEMA videos, hence I'm barely able to watch - or read - any fight scenes without cringing nowadays. Sad.

And I used to love Van Damme movies while I was a kid.

hahah yeah, know the feeling! Van Damme and the turtles got me interested in martial arts, and then years later getting attacked got me to actually move my ass and take up training

thanks for the link above, really interesting video, good points about all the weapons he highlighted. although I did have to laugh at his choice... 'so if I had to pick a weapon of longsword length or LESS ... I would pick the rapier because it has better reach than a longsword ...'
obviously he had other reasons too but yeah, that made me chuckle

Yep, the guy would do well in PoE - he knows the importance of range, or AoE :)

This video is part of the reason I went with rapier, I readily defer to his expertise in these mattes.

That´s the weapon that ended Knighthood in Europe, and i don´t mean that in an wordplay-fashion, but those well armored beeings with their puny swords had one singular weak spot.
As added bonus you´re allowed to wear fancy clothing while piking.

Never met a sword I don't like. I have one that can be used both 1 and 2 handed. Not sure what it's called. I consider that pretty utilitarian.

That's what I thought but wasn't sure if the term was generic enough.
