trading in this game sucks, add a marketplace
trading is just pain in the ass...
- you cant use the forums to search stuff, but luckily there are some usefull sides like poeexplorer and poegoods which help you search for stuff - even if you find an item on a forum post that you want to buy, people are eiter not online or have quit the game/ took a break so you never get a response - also the trade chat sucks, people spam their lvl 10 unique items which none wants and other walls of textes with useless rares - the poor trading system also makes people abuse the public group system since people dont want to hear the name auction house i say that poe needs a marketplace something simple like in the settlers online ![]() there should be a limited ammount of possible tradeoffers you put in (maybe you can purchase more with micro transactions like stashtabs) ign: ALLRAUDER Editado por útlima vez por Luuu90#5383 en 18 ago. 2013 6:46:37

I agree with you, if there is something this game miss is a place where players may shop items from other players by paying on currencies, and it would also help on encampment crowd manage as most of sellers and buyers would stay on a marketplace instance instead of populating encampment (lioneye, forest and sarn).

This seems like an alright idea, but I've already came up with a more in-depth UI for trading here http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/492957
I think the exampled UI in the OP isn't in-depth enough for PoE. It is mainly for Settlers Online only. All the UI in the OP shows is resources being traded for other resources. This kind of UI would only be decent for Orb currency only, but trading in PoE does not revolve around Orb currency only. Players need to be able to view what they're buying via gear and orbs in that they'll be able to see the stats of everything. I describe all this in the link above. The exampled 'Settlers Online UI' is not really the answer to fixing PoE's Trade System. Here is an example of my solution. This is only one feature in my link:
Open to see the 'Your Trade Box' Tab for the owner only:
![]() The Public Trades Tab (after you've posted your Trade)
Open to see the 'Public Trades' Tab:
![]() You can place items in your Trade Box for other players to view in the 'Public Trades' Tab and be able to CTRL + ALT + CLICK items to sellers and buyers in Whispers. From there on, players can negotiate on deals until they come to an agreement. P.S. More information on all the other tabs shown in the screenshot above can be seen in the link I provided. These tabs go beyond just fixing PoE's Trade System. When game developers ignore the criticism that would improve their game, the game fails. Just because a game receives a great amount of praise vs. only a small amount of criticism does not mean to call it a day and make a foolish misplaced assumption that it is perfect. I believe GGG has stated that they're already working on a system to allow trading through the forums themselves without having to be in game.

" That makes no sense whatsoever. That's what needs to change. Trading is already like this, through forums, having to leave the game or minimize PoE. The goal is to make trading in-game easier and more efficient in that players will no longer have to use the forums or third-party sources for trading anymore. It can very well be done as shown in my Spoiler. Sure, it's just a mock-up screenshot, but I don't see anyone else coming up with something better. More info on my solution for PoE's Trade System can be found in the link of my other comment. P.S. Even if GGG made it so trading on forums can be done without leaving the game, that's still problematic in that another application via your browser has to be opened while running PoE. For most (not everyone) average users with average computers, this is a problem because browsing becomes slow while having PoE running. Conclusively, Forum Trading like we have now is the result of a poor in-game Trade System. It is a temporary fix at best until GGG can come up with something better in-game. When game developers ignore the criticism that would improve their game, the game fails. Just because a game receives a great amount of praise vs. only a small amount of criticism does not mean to call it a day and make a foolish misplaced assumption that it is perfect. " Amen fellow Exile. TY to those who called me out on my BS on these forums. There is no benefit to being so selfish as to fail to acknowledge others' differing beliefs of what "should be" or believe your own opinions so supreme as to be factual and thus dismiss others' opinions as being somehow a lie or delusional.

" I'm not going to lie, I really didn't expect such feedback from you (the original poster.) I am glad you like the idea. However, it needs more support if we're ever to see something like that in PoE. The more GGG sees people like an idea, the better chances of it being implemented. When game developers ignore the criticism that would improve their game, the game fails. " Then let's hear what you have to offer for an alternative and fix to PoE's Trade System. I relate people like you to the clown of the class, there's always one that's going to disagree even if not for a viable or good reason, worse, disagree just to disagree, It's always the same comment from people like you, "This sucks, but I won't tell you why it sucks! I instead want to be the first one tell you your idea sucks!" (quite possibly because you cannot think of a good reason on why.) When you come up with some really good reasons to support your disagreement(s), maybe I can take your criticism more seriously. When game developers ignore the criticism that would improve their game, the game fails. Just because a game receives a great amount of praise vs. only a small amount of criticism does not mean to call it a day and make a foolish misplaced assumption that it is perfect. " I might have to dig and find the post, but I'm pretty sure the idea was to make it so that people could offer currency for an item and others could accept through forums without either of them having to be online. This would vastly decrease the time investment involved with trading. I for one would be happy if it took place via a web browser on my desktop where I could search and trade using proper windows and cursors vs. whatever GUI pane that GGG could come up with. This is not a knock against GGG, but any developer would be hard-pressed to create an interface more efficient or user-friendly than a web browser. And if having one page open while you play PoE is really that taxing on your computer, I'm surprised you can run PoE at all. |
