Brutality Support

hi

There is a phraze: - "supported skill deals (40-59) more physical damage" - in Brutality Support gem

My main weapon skill storm call - it is a spell
I cant understand this gem - Brutality Support
If i insert this gem into my staff socket - will it cancel spell damage and change to physical damage?

Thanks

Is there anything about conversion? Not a single word. Besides, how hard is it to do it and look at tool-tip?
"Brutality Support is a support gem that grants more physical damage while losing the ability to deal elemental and chaos damage." (wiki)

In other words, of course not.

By the way, spell damage is not the same as elemental damage or chaos damage, though the latter can be spell damage.

Conclusion: it does not convert
You don't do physical damage, hence you don't do "more physical damage" with brutality.

This has nothing to do with your skill being a spell. Brutality works with physical spells. It has everything to do with your main skill dealing elemental (lightning) damage and not physical damage.

The relevant distinctions are Spells vs Attacks and Physical vs Elemental (Fire Cold Lightning) vs Chaos. There are physical spells and elemental attacks, and physical attacks and elemental spells, and Brutality works for all physical abilities and for physical abilities only.

"You don't do physical damage, hence you don't do "more physical damage" with brutality. - i gotcha" - i do spell damage

"Brutality works with physical spells" - i didn't know that physical spells exist... interesting....

There are some spells that do physical; Blade Vortex, Etheral Knives and a few others. In this game you can do either spells or attacks. Within the two you can produce either physical, fire, cold, lightning, or chaos. For example you can do a spell lightning damage such as Storm Call, or you can do an attack lightning damage such as Static Strike. You can do a spell with physical like Blade Vortex, or you can do an attack with physical such as Cleave.

Other games like Warcraft or Heroe's of Newerth try to keep it simple by having just physical or magic damage. But Path of Exile throws more into the mix of it's damage mechanics. Just don't confuse it with other games.

If you understand the mechanics, the descriptions will make sense. Brutality Support "Supported Skills deal no Elemental Damage" means it's chopping off any elemental damage, not converting. Anything that converts will say "Converts".

Yes, I looked at Vortex Blade - Fantastic phusical damage as a spell....

"...just physical or magic damage"

Don't you think that when a character uses a sword it have to be physical damage at any way? Cos physical damage with a sword as a spell sounds unnatural?

will - Physical damage as a spell- lead to a muddle?

Thanks for your help
