[3.6] The Blizz Sorc - Icestorm/Winter Orb CI Occultist - Viable For Everything
So there is a new Watcher's Eye mod for Zealotry
180% increased Maximum total Recovery per second from Energy Shield Leech while affected by Zealotry Even though that Aura doesn't do much for the build.... that mod is totally broken if I'm reading that right. Like, full near instant leech constantly while face-tanking broken. My math might be off, but with that mod, the 50% from the tree, and Ghost reaver, you are looking at 66% ES/Second recovered. That's before Blood Rage Procs, or additional ES recovery from the Discipline watcher's eye mod. Would be a giant trade-off for that aura, but may be worth it. Yeah, it's been very instructive playing without CI in Alva's Incursions. I just never noticed that before!
OK time to go buy an orb of regret and fix that. Editado por útlima vez por Graiaule#7461 en 10 mar. 2019 23:19:24

" Might be chaos damage which would cause you to lose life even when you're on full ES |
|
"Well, CI's only (current)function is to make you chaos immune, so... yes? Without investment in hp and chaos res, chaos damage will kill you. Just try doing high-level incursions with many vaal constructs or rare chaos-spamming mages. Also, going CI will free at least 1 flask slot. Or, in your case, three. |
|
"Actually, there are only 2 other things that could make you lose life while on full ES. One is "lose life when X" effects (example: Gloomfang, caustic mana flask), another is using Corrupted Energy jewel and being hit by phys damage. |

I should have taken a screenshot then. In an incursion, no visible icons indicating anything going on, full ES (2400), zero life. With CI turned on, this character is finally feeling like the WI chars of old.
Guess I spoke too soon. T2 incursions are cleaning my clock at 2600 ES and 4500 damage/hit (1108 int). Looks like I need to farm more gear to get my ES up. Ah, right, of course. The mob damage is fixed but the leech is a % of your shield. So the higher your shield, the tougher you are. I'm running into this for the first time because of unavoidably crappy gear, meaning every other league I've been lucky enough to find valuable loot/currency while levelling so I could get good gear from the start when I switched to CI. You know, that's a bit like the effect white privilege gives you... you just have no idea what it's really like without it. Editado por útlima vez por Graiaule#7461 en 11 mar. 2019 0:45:24

" OMG it works look: with watcher's eye (sidenote, got little lucky 2ex in day 2 - extra cheap watchers eye for 1ex) as for zealotry, had to turn off HoI and AA, so not that good of a deal, zealotry gives more damage (from tooltip) but loosing that much mitigation could be not worth it + shatter explotions from Hoi. using mana calc i came up with AA + Disci + Zealotry + enlightnen lvl4 to barely make it to 96% reserved, but DAMN that leech/s is HUGE ps. as a high lvl option one could use Sovereignty (4points), or even right away on 93 at a cost of 54 int (fertile mind + 30dex node), at 90 you already should have enough int/es to take on all content without problems (i killed uber elder with 10k ES, 1.7k int at 85lvl last league deathless), incorporating hude ES leach gain im thinking shaper barage :) Editado por útlima vez por adambog#4531 en 11 mar. 2019 2:14:47

Awesome, my math was exactly right... another few years and I'll understand the mechanics of the game!
One decent thing about that aura is that it spews out concentrated ground when fighting bosses.. you know in case your regen wasn't enough. It also boosts crit chance.. useful for procing EO. Expect the cost of those jewels to start rising once people clue into this. I haven't heard anyone talking about it yet, but 66% ES/Second is no joke.
