Scorching ray. self cast vs totem
My current toon is a SR-Hierophant with SR-Totems. I did NOT go for Ancestral Bond, in order to keep the benefits from Elemental Equilibrium, applied via Orb of Storms, wich also procs Ele Overload.
My three totems have a very decent clearspeed (not a t1 speed, but a solid t2). The ray sets everything ablaze that it touches, effectivly working like a piercing projectile. Thus the best helm enchant you can get for clearspeed imo is the "increased scorching ray beam length". Castspeed on the other hand is almost worthless for SR-Totems, because once you are stacked up, you DON'T (!) loose the stacks when a totem expires or dies - and the increase in turn speed from a faster casting gem is hardly noticeable. Thus you have room to use Empower or the recently buffed "Minion and Totem Elemental Resistance Support", wich now has a 1.2 multiplier to elemental damage. (My current links: SR - Spell Totem - Ele Focus - CD - Rapid Decay - MiTo ele res) I use Searing Bond as support, but it's not really needed, i just keep it, because i like it. Besides it scales of the same stats as SR and adds another (stacking) burn. Damage is further scaled via Double Curse (Blasphemy-Flammability + Witchfire Brew). Defensively the build is centered around ES-Regeneration and Recharge, reaching 1.7k ES-regen/sec atm with a sulphur flask and 1.1k without it. 2x vaaldiscipline-inc duration keeps me alive in breaches. T15 is the highest i've played thus far, not encountering any troubles against any boss. The build can run every map mod other than no regen (but i avoid chain too, if i can, it's unpleasant with totems). Baseline: SR-Totems definitely are more than viable up to T15. dedadadadedoodoodoo is all i want to say to you
