Hi and thanks for this awesome build is really awesome, i need a tips on what item should i invest next, today i try to switch to gripped gloves from the thunderfist only a little improvement from heal ( around 100hp) but loosing 8k on KB skill, i really appreciate if possible some tips. Here's my gear atm

Hey. I was looking into doing this build and leveling up a ranger. My budget is about 3000 chaos. Is it enough to buy "good" gear for this build?

anyway, what i am trying to say here is: a piscators is an incredible wand that can barely be beat. the weapon slot is the slot that is the hardest to upgrade and should be done last, if at all. Considering a dps upgrade by 5% (from 3,41 to 3.58) would cost an astonishing 200ex.. (or 185 if you sell the piscators first) i highly advice against it. Instead of spending 50ex on a wand, use that currency to buy jewelery which is where most of your dps comes from anyway!

The OP surely has very good items (and exceptional wand/jewels). However, his gear is very "added dmg" - focused. If you take my rings for example, the comparison should turn out more in favor of the rare wand. And tbh. opals should be used for such comparisons/discussions. Piscator's is a great wand, but compared to OP's wand or a mirrowand I could hardly imagine it being competitive.


P.S. My gear is ofc. nowhere near as good or single-target focused as his. May try it out eventually, but more focused on maps/lvling for now.

i had a look at your gear and piscators (without a cull corrupt) is just barely worse than your current wand (roughly 5%?), but considering you use esh's mirror which will provide a lot of flat added damage a piscators will still scale much better.

anyway the point i am trying to make here is: when you upgrade your gear you should do so as efficiently as possible. For example you wouldnt wanna get a 30 ex jewel if you dont even have a +2 helmet enchant yet, as the dps improvement of a 4 stat over a 3 stat jewel is significantly less than a +2 enchant vs no enchant. i see a lot of people heavily investing into weapons when the return they get is much less than what they could have gotten if they spent that money on jewelery or whatever. maybe you can beat my 50c piscators with your 25ex wand, but when i take the 23ex i save and spend it on other things, i will benefit much more. wands are incredebly expensive for what they do, so new players should focus on upgrading them last. i feel like this is something a lot of people do not understand

You are right in the sense, that if you take my current (!) barrage links, non-corrupted piscators is barely worse.
However, there are some things to consider:

1) I am chaining beachheads and barely using barrage, therefore the "added cold" for some safety and less variance, if I do. With the proper 6link for bosses (lightning pen) the difference is around 8-9 %. This number may be arbitrary and differ from 5-10%, depending on the PoB configurations.
What I did was:
- changed added cold to lightning pen
- deactivated the enchant ("killed recently" = true)
- artificially added 25 Esh's mirror stacks on my ammu
- created a piscator with the best rolls I could find on the market (30%, 114%, 376% or so).
- activated frenzy charges. Probably also should activate power charges.
- "enemy is NOT shocked", "enemy is intimidated", "proj distance = 10"

I have yet to test out vaal breach and can't tell how many stacks are realistic. Otherwise the number may very well differ, depending on circumstances (open map? closed map? boss room? shapers realm?).
That's for barrage. For KB numbers largely differ depending on the map. For things like shaped dunes with 50+ stacks, piscator's is doing great, for beachhead boss encounter, probably not.
Would I buy a wand like mine for grinding 500 shaped dunes with + 2 breaches and bisco's? Probably not.

TLDR:

-5% is a rather low estimate imo. A lot of things depend on gear, settings and the encounter
- 10% multiplier for cull is a bit arbitrary in my eyes. It's a nice QoL but a rather high estimate overall. For bosses with phases a separate cull setup can be used (largely negating the cull advantage).
- would I buy my current wand for X ex? I don't know, got lucky essencecrafting it. Otherwise would have tested both a worse rare and a well rolled piscator's.
Would I start the build by investing every chaos into the wand? No, I fully agree with you on this topic. Jewellery, enchants and jewels should have higher priority.
However, since I got the wand, I won't be swapping it for piscator's either (slightly less dmg, more stacks rng).

That's about how much I invested so far, and I have HALF the damage of OP. So be warned! You might be okay with that as the build is fun to play, but if you want to be as good as build creator, it is beyond outrageously expensive.

I just changed wand and dropped my 20c wand to a new one for 40c.

In PoB my old wand was doing 51k dps on barrage, where a higher rolled Piscator (without cull) would give 53k dps. This new wand for 40 chaos gives 57k dps.

Mainly due to crit multi and 200 edps.

I think many ppl underestimates what crit strikes really do to a build when you crit alot, have a high accuracy and scale crit multi. I haven't even taken the crit multi nodes up high in the tree yet.

For a 40c upgrade I also got +1 to lightning gems on that one, so am trying out if the mana pool can handle my wrath gem there with emp3+enl3.

Back to the +1/+2 barrage helmet hunt. I just hatehatehate doing the labs.

Don't Facetank him, Decy Brotem is your best friend.

Also make sure to blind him with stibnite.

Which Gem do u remove for the Decoy Totem? (Or what do u mean with "Decy Brotem" ? :P )

That's a nice Crafting base.
Can can craft a bad suffix on it, slam it, hope for a good prefix.
After that Craft Crit. Chance and slam it again.

But that requires super luck.
So might better sell it.
