Betrayal is the worst league mechanic of all time
" Its a dancing duo occulist with enfeeble, temp chain and despair (lots of reduced damage). I also have life and mana leech on my brands and blight totems (testing the gloves, was around 4500 hp). The point of the screen shot was to show the fps dips when they spawn and attack. So i need 5k+ hp with 2k+ mom mana to take a shot from these guys on a t11 red map with easy mods? This is mainly a clear char, i use other guy for bosses til i get better with the duo. Im sure you have made one Editado por útlima vez por Chadwixx#5277 en 30 ene. 2019 23:19:28

Do you really think 4.3k hp is enough when a big hit or a burst of multiple hits gets through? I'm running TC/Enfeeble on Blasphemy and getting chunked 4k in one hit isn't even that rare...
" I have no idea what you mean by "invisible Syndicate members". Haven't met one of those entire league. I agree that there is too much visual clutter, but that said, if you can't see ground effects then it was your choice to play whatever build prevents you from seeing those. I can see them just fine. When you claim some absurd shit like '6k life, 1.3k es, 1.3k mana with mom' getting 1-shot by a "white archer in t9 map", you really should have some recorded evidence. Why do you even think I'd take your word for that when that happening is either completely impossible or the map had multiple damage mods stacked on top of each other? Rest of the post can be summarized as "I don't like it so it sucks". The fact that forts STILL spawn outside the map should be blamed on GGG for not giving enough shits to fix the league content, rather than the content itself. |

No, I don't like Betrayal *because* it sucks.
Fine. Ignore everything I mentioned. Ignore the bugs and the crashes and the smoke and the lasers and the ground effects and the clusterfuck of mobs and Syndicate members and their attacks (if you can see them). Like I said, one-shots through adequate (or inadequate) defenses is just a tiny sliver of the problems with the league. Betrayal is just a limited, poorly designed shitshow of multi-layered rng. You want research and intervention the most, but they're the seemingly rare encounters. You want specific members to appear in specific branches, but they're not guaranteed to show up during their own branch's encounter. You need allies and rivalries, but those options are random. If you want to move a syndicate member, it's random for them to show up and it's random to get the correct option to move them. Which means you need to run an excess of encounters to guarantee moving the right Syndicate member to the right encounter. When defeating a Syndicate member, since there are only two options, your choices are sometimes both bad. For example, after defeating Cameria, I can imprison him and he'll lose a level, or I can completely remove him from the Syndicate. Or move him to a branch I don't want. Or remove all rivalries. Or a half-dozen other options I would never want to choose. Which means I again need to run an excess of encounters. If I get three members who are max rank, I can kill two of them with no effect; or I can imprison all of them; or sometimes I can remove all ranks from one of them; or I can make one a captain, sometimes replacing the captain I want; or any number of other options I wouldn't pick. Which means I again, for the third time, need to run an excess of encounters. Which puts me right back at the rng of getting the right encounter and the right syndicate members. After sufficient encounters, I could block specific ones by not running their respective safehouses, but that's . . . What kind of league mechanic makes it better to *not* interact with certain aspects of the mechanic? On top of that, it's far better to speed run low-tier Syndicate encounters than to run them in mid- or high-tier maps. On top of *that*, completing the Master's safehouse completely resets Syndicate progress. Which means your incentive is to *not* run the Master at all. It's better for Syndicate progress to not progress to the final boss of the league mechanic! Again, NONE of these problems have anything to do with the player character or the bugs or the visual clutter. This is strictly how the league was designed. If it's better to not fight the Master; if it's better to not run half the safehouses; after an encounter, if there's a good chance I wouldn't want to pick either one of two options, wasting that encounter; if it's better to just run encounters at a trivial level -- if my incentive is to not engage with the *majority* of the league's content, why am I playing this league at all? |

" Have to have reduced flask charge on belt (18+ to get 3 uses out of flasks, need 15 for bosses that phase), it gets very expensive on abyss belts. That char is only a few days old, tried to make it last league in ssf but never got propehcy for sword upgrade. Its very fun but im lacking life like you guys said. I may get some commander of the pit gloves, drop a curse from boots and use the crab aura on chest. Mrsdeath simmer down, some like to have fun with builds. I can kill shaper and elder on my other char, not everyone follows the guide and repeats the steps. Edit, grabbed these, 4800hp now. Editado por útlima vez por Chadwixx#5277 en 31 ene. 2019 4:46:06

Just ignore I_NO and MrsDeath_, no-lifers with groups to carry them and no useful advice to share anyway.
My enjoyment of Betrayal league, and survival rate of syndicate encounters, went significantly up when I created a build that can ignore certain dangerous aspects of the counters and severely cripple the rest--CI Occultist with cod-dot skills. I'm immune to chaos--huge boost in survivability--and I slow them to a crawl just by chilling them with my spells. If I use temporal chains (TC) and switch my Rime Gaze helmet to one with 30% increased effect of TC, they would barely move from the spot they spawn in. I also enjoy and reap a lot more benefits from Syndicates by running the bridge area in Act 8 over and over again. You can get hundred encounters in an hour + you will be able to farm Vaal side areas as well. This method is mind-numbing but very effective. You can setup your safehouses there very easily and quickly--once this is done you can go back to maps and do this properly if you wish or you stay there and do it again and again realizing scarabs do not give a shit what level safehouse is. So yes, trivialize the content, ie. kill it before it touches you, is the way to enjoy the content. Syndicate members, at least some, are still overtuned. Their visual clutter is absolutely horrible and the amount of negative status effects and ground effects these encounter spawn is equally bad. Worst of all, GGG dropped a ball on this league as they seem to be stretched to their limits--it takes them unusually long to fix some major bugs released with the league, we are now nearly at the end of 2nd month of the league and there are still major bugs waiting for fix. |
