MTX Question ! Automaton Long sword
" You have no clue about any of this, not sure why you felt the need to post something. The internets... There is a stance animations specific to each class and a specific weapon type. Two handed mace/axe, two handed sword and then single handed weapons. The animation for using a skill is tied into each respective weapon class. So the way a hero swings a sword is different from how they slam a mace, for example. Those are inherently connect and can be adjusted based on the type of weapon, so skinning a mace with a sword and having the stance change will also affect the subsequent animation that follows. It's actually trivial to do and you don't need to be a pro when it comes to game design. Code is logic. Also, I know both thanks for assuming I'm clueless on the subject. Cute. Secondly, a skill has no bearing on the weapon animation. Earthquake does not have a unique animation. Not sure why you even felt GGG needs to make any kind of alteration for it. It's restrictive to a few weapon classes to avoid being broke (like using it with a claw or a wand). That's for a game balancing purpose and not reflective of animations in the least. EQ applies a slam effect to the ground and then a ripple on the aftershock. Skills like Glacial Cascade apply an ruptured, expanding ice effect. The subsequent animation is irrelevant and while slamming the ground makes EQ sort of thematically work, having the hero swing a wand to call forth the initial slam effect may look slightly off but then there are a myriad of effects that look dumb regardless. Like it's set in stone and would break the game. Additionally, we aren't calling for wands to be skinned with two handed axes. If you look at the animation of a sword, it swings downwards, so there would be little issue with most skills. And even if it wasn't 100% perfect, who gives a rats ass. There is so much clipping on gear, most things look like ass (dildos on every CI hero's heads) that having a swing not be perfect is the least of anyone's concerns. Lastly, how can you ignore a hero holding a sword by the blade? You claim that skinning an axe with a sword would break a half a second animation while it breaks a full on rest stance completely. OK. I'm pretty sure most people would opt for the former rather than the latter. The point is, it actually IS that easy to do. And GGG likely haven't done it because they don't think it's worth the time to invest in or generate more revenue by not doing that. Also how do you explain that the Seraph or Warlock dagger can skin a wand? They are daggers. And how can most two handed sword MTXes can skin maces and axes? Or that the steam powered wand can't skin daggers or maces (it can certain pass as a mace). You're counter arguments are laughable and more full of holes than swiss cheese bruh.
