Why are people worried about POE being an MMORPG?

Global chat certainly feels massively.

What defines an MMO for me is social interactivity.
For me PoE was an MMO since the chat rework back then.
Valid point I guess, though I keep chat turned off so I didnt really consider that. Though I personally would never use the term 'Massively multilayer' just because I could chat to everyone currently playing the game

Why not? Since the chat rework you are easily able to gather like-minded people in-game to approach any in-game content together. Everything other than that is just hairsplitting about what the RPG means in an MMORPG, imo.

Guilds went even farther but the basic tools were supplied with the chat rework.

I do not understand how this would effect the core game, all the above points are optional, you can play exactly the same and ignore the master, and be a grinding master yourself.
This expansion was smartly done to bring more casual players in the game without hurting the hardcore game play.

No sir, points are not optional. If they are part of the ingame environment, there's no way to escape collisions. You also can't be competitive, ignoring major parts of the game, while competing with the rest of the player base on a lesser, or higher degree, as it's a great part of this genre.

According to me, Ventiman is right in what he said. According to you, it may be different. A question of taste.

But it's a fact this game is turning into a MMO. Like it, or not.

because there is no such thing like making everybody happy even if you try reaaaaallly hard...pff imo its pretty stupid and i agree with the guy who said who cares about the taag , if you enjoy it why does it even matter?

I would kinda understand people if they changed the way the game worked...buut they are just addiiiing things pfff jeez..i agree one of the reasons is cattering to the asian market but that isnt bad at all as they arent dropping the grinding and the hardcore element , you can play all fucking day long and probably get 5 , 10 , 20 master encounters so the "hardcore" players arent being forgot.. if they added a limit it would be another story but they didnt soo i dont understaaand :/

Whats so bad about cattering to hardcore and casual players in the same time? Meh i guess people just react in this way as soon as they see "daily quests" , GGG should have ninja added a really high chance for a master to appear for a first time every day and baam totally the same thing but at least people wouldnt complain about something like this

People need to stop freaking out without knowing anything thats coming. People thinking it becomes a mmo, wasnt it a mmo already with the ridiculous rng, gamb...ehm crafting in the game, grinding the same maps over and over hoping rng throws you a bone and you get something good. Idk bout you but those are already stuff from most mmo's out there.

I've experienced this bringing in aspects from other genres and if anything it makes the game feel more unique.

Also why can't people wait and see what it turns out like.

Masters will only be mandatory if they are, on average, more efficient than the other options. If anything, it sounds like they will be LESS efficient than normal crafting, in exchange for the fact that you do get a guaranteed outcome. They will almost certainly still be less efficient than simply trading for what you want.

I'd also argue that even "being competitive" is purely optional. This may come as a shock to some people, but you can also choose to play a GAME just for fun. If you don't enjoy some particular aspect of it, decide whether the reward you will eventually get from that outweighs the time you will spend doing something that isn't fun for you. If not, don't do it.
