Computer crashes/freezes while playing path

My computer has taken to crashing/freezing while playing path of exile. After about 30 minutes to an hour of playing everything freezes up and I can't do anything. I'm not getting a blue screen, everything just freezes up entirely. None of my hardware is overheating.

lockups like that are usually hardware or driver related. The problem is locating it.

How are you sure you're not overheating? Do you run HWMonitor and verify the CPU/GPU/Case temperatures? It wouldn't be the first time someone says "I'm not overheating" only to run HWMonitor and find out that they actually are overheating.

If you're positive you're not overheating, then I'd investigate other hardware or driver issues.
Hi,
I'm having the same issue. I would say since I use the Steam client. But I haven't played a lot since recently, so I can't really say. I have played open beta for a long time with the standard client, without any issue.
The game can freeze after 1h or 5mn. No blue screen. No overheat (checked with speedfan).
I must kill the process with the task manager (ctrl+alt+del because alt-tab and windows key don't respond). Note: I see a CPU usage of 5%, so it's not really a crash, something's still working.
Nothing displayed in log/Client.txt, not even the famous "An unexpected disconnection occurred.".
Hopefully, my character doesn't die, so I suppose the client "crash" instantly kills the connection.

I recently tried to activate antialias ingame, and the exact same freeze happened instantly. So I suppose this is driver related as said by Drakier.

My config if someone has the same symptoms:
Windows Seven Home 64b
GTX 560Ti, drivers 331.58
i5 750
12Gb RAM

After an upgrade of the graphic drivers to 331.82, I still had some freezes (maybe less, can't say).
After an uninstall of the (useless) "NVIDIA GeForce Experience 1.8.1" I've been able to play about 4h without any freeze. So for me this seems to be the solution.

Edit: Nope, I just freezed again after another try. I was just lucky last time...

Just wanted to say: you're not alone!
I get the same!
Sometimes it just works flawlessly for hours; next time it freezes after 30 min...

The same error (freezing, have to kill the steam/dota2 processes) has even spread to DotA2, although it's a little less common there...

That's almost certainly hardware/driver related. And since it's not happening in just PoE, then it's pretty safe to assume it's not a PoE problem (and PoE didn't cause it and it didn't "spread").

I had a very similar problem earlier.

roll back the driver to the previous version?

Thanks for the help mate. Turns out a few of the drivers up to the current version (331.82) cause crashes with my card.

So for anyone else looking into it, the most recent driver for an NVIDIA Gforce GT 630M to work with path of exile is 327.23.

331.58, 331.65, 331.82, 331.92, and the current version in beta (331.93) cause a near Immediate blue screen of death.

I don't know if your cards will react the same way, but try downgrading your NVIDIA drivers to 327.23
