augment a magic item

can u help me pls?
i found some blue(=magic right?) gloves and i got an augment stone now i want to use it on the gloves
they are not equipped they are not a gem so the error would be the wrong "type" how can i know which is the right type?

Magic items have a prefix and a suffix. An orb of augmentation can only be used on an item that only has one or the other, not both. Most likely the item you are trying to augment already has both.

It's not a good idea to use your crafting orbs until you really understand what they do. Your blue item can be made into a yellow by adding another effect to it with a Regal Orb. These are pretty rare though, so you might want to save it up for a really really good blue item.

By the way... you can show us the items by clicking on your character portrait in the upper left and then cntrl-clicking the item... as such:

To give you a more clear example using flasks which is one of the more common things to augment.



That can be augmented because it has no suffix. Ample is the prefix.



That could not be augmented. It has the prefix of Ample and the Suffix of Heat already.

A single affix can have more than one stat. For example block and stun recovery and innate gear defense increases.

His point is that prior to receiving the "Infixed" prefix, the item had only one mod (one suffix, 0 prefixes) which gave 2 lines worth of magical description.

Your item was not "with prefix and suffix" if an Orb of Augmentation was able to add a prefix to it.

The only other possible outcome was that you discovered a bug that billions of other Augments failed to produce, when the more likely outcome is that you still do not understand the mod system.

This leaves room for 1 prefix: Infixed.
