Hi guys, just a quick note about Effigon:

This is a pretty ridiculous amulet that can give much higher DPS than Lycosidae when you build correctly.

If by chance anyone is building fire LS (anyone? xD) this is the perfect amulet for you.

Thanks for your post and this build @Ceryneian :)

Slightly off topic here, but I was just thinking about making an crit-based (fire) elementalist melee witch.

I was thinking of using the following:

1. Effigon;
2. Possible weapon options: If 1H Dagger Volcanus + Razon of the Seventh Sons (or Volcanus as stat stick), if 2H, then Oro's Sacrafice
3. Farrul's Bite (helm);
4. Farrul's Pounce (gloves).

THEORYCRAFTING and how the proposed build would work

1. Blind: The first problem I'm facing is regarding how to reliably apply blind. Possible sources to apply blind include using Farrul's bite (thereas a 20$ chance to apply blind when in Cat's Stealth). Use the smoke mine gem. Use the stibinite flask. Use of a Blind support gem (e.g. attaching it to an Orb of Storms + Curse on Hit setup)

I'm not entirely sure whether the Blind ailment will be applied when if the character doesn't have enough accuracy (i.e. if we can't hit the target, we can't apply blind, then we can't actually use the benefits of the Effigon "hits cannot be evaded" mod)

2. Crit: Once blind is applied, the benefits of using Effigon (opposed to RT) is that we can Crit. Therefore we need to stack some Crit Chance. Use a Diamond Flask. Using a Volcanus dagger (with 5% local crit, 40% Global Crit Strike Chance). Increased Crit Strike Support Gem. Using Assassin's Mark. Once we Crit, we naturally apply the relevant Ailment (specifically we are aiming to Ignite)

3. Ailments: Bleed, Ignite, Chill, Shock As an elementalist, we can also rely on our Ascendancy: Shaper of Desetruction. Depending on the cycle, our 100% fire damage can now also shock and chill. Using Farrul's Pounce, we always inflict Bleed when we are in Cat's stealth.

4. Safe from Ele Reflect Volcanus gives us 4 seconds of Avatar of Fire every 8 seconds. During uptime of Avatar of Fire, it gives us an additional 50% phys to fire conversion. So a total of 100% physical damage converted to fire. Running an Elementalist, we can pick up the Ascendancy: Paragon of Calamity. This makes us immune to reflect mods (despite our high crit damage, ideally).

5. DPS We have high crit, and deal extra damage depending on our weapon choice: all based on ailments being on the enemy (i.e. bleed & ignite). There's also interactions with Volcanus - sincee there's added fire damage dealt when target is bleeding/ignited. We can also proc Elemental Equilibrium by using say Orb of Storms(or Lightning Strike?) + Blind Support Gem + Assassin's Mark etc.

As we are a witch, it seems that we would be forced to then take ES as our defence. So we get Chaos Innoculation and Ghost Reaver. Endgame gear would include Skyforth for Stun Immunity I suppose.... We would aim to take up as many elemental damage nodes & fire penetration in our passive tree. Stacking ES end game would be quite important as well

Conclusion
I feel there are many problems which are cropping up. One of them being how witches aren't supposed to go melee... but that Idea itself sounds so cool xD

What do you guys think?

Hey ppl, i started building this build xD seems fine although i'm not even close to 16K evasion... im at 7.1k can someone pls take a look and let me know? thanks in advance
hey loving the build, was wondering if deadeye would be a better alternative than raider for the free accuracy? sorry if this has already been answered in past posts D;
Im going to start playing this build so i spammed 20c on a shaper dagger to get some elemental damage.
It mostly got t2 mods and has no room for +fire damage but will it do the trick?

great dagger, its probably fairly close to an actual t1 dagger (because of the extra chaos) - you'd have to compare on PoB vs something like this:

don't bother with +fire, ignites are useless, freezes are amazing - my daggers added cold seems to already be enough to freeze most trash.
I wonder, is it possible to make an ES version of this build and if I can make an elementalist variant for this?

Hi bud, thanks for checking out the guide xD. Interesting build on Witch with Effigon. The biggest advantage in my opinion of this amulet is you can get the benefits of Lycosidae (100% accuracy) and also put on a stat stick with 2 mods like X% phys damage added as fire, X% ele damage added as chaos. This won't work with LS which can't use dual wield stat sticks, but for other skills it will work very nicely.

Other advantages ofc for Effigon are building a fire build (i.e. fire LS) or even going ES where you want to have an ES shield but still want 100% accuracy.

Volconus and Razor I don't think are going to give high enough DPS - low APS and low crit chance respectively and their "stat" mods won't be as powerful as the above (but yes cheaper most likley). Although Volconus may be good for a flicker strike build.

Blind:
- For consistent blinds as Witch your options would be limited depending on what content you would like to do. Since Cat's buff is not permanent for consistent blinds you would need a different option. Stibnite would be enough for everything I think up to T14, past that wiht high boss HP your Stibnite will likely be running out for most of the fight. You would need consistent blinds for T15+ and the best way would be to socket Blind support gem
- Alternatively you could just build Saboteur or Ascendant

Crit Chance:
- You don't really need too much. Aim for sweet spot of 50% crit chance before Diamond Flask is the most efficient for Diamond Flask. With Volconus low crit chance though you may struggle here though to get to 50%. Assassin's Mark may not work well on this build either unless you put it on a Blasphemy setup - which may create problem because Blasphemy limits you to melee range

Ailments:
- Only really need ignite for Effigon. Shock is really powerful particularly with Elementalist Beacon of Ruin - but only IF you can get high enough lightning damage to get up to the max shock buff. Otherwise if your damage is too low or boss HP is too high - it makes sense to use Ele Focus support gem instead

DPS:
- We need to check in PoB how the DPS would shape out bud. You'll already have a good amount of ele pen that I think trying to build around EE may not be worth it.

Overall unfortunately I think this would be a tricky build to make work on a Witch bud with the temporary buffs and then having to go CI combined wiht the Farrul uniques. Also I haven't played ES in a while now so not sure how the leech/ES regen would feel and perhaps you may have to go Occulist to be more defensive on ES

Hi bud, to get high EV you would need a high EV chest and perhaps and EV shield. I wouldn't worry too much about getting high EV - you can trade high EV for a more defensive chest like Belly or Loreweave. I've been using Loreweave and highly recommend it if you can get one with high max res rolls.

Like I said, if you stay range you will find most of your problems are going to be spells on this build (not attacks) - so getting more defense like spell dodge, projectile avoidance, max res, more HP ofc will all help vs. spells.

Hi bud, thanks for checking out the posts. Yes you can use Deadeye she will have a littler higher DPS and faster clear speed than Raider but at the cost of less defense.

I recommend Raider because she has great utility with her paths being able to customize how much damage vs. defense (and type of defense) you want.

If you are just farming easy maps and want to clear as fast as you can - try Deadeye. Otherwise I feel Raider is best.
