Cogwheels of doom - constant DX12 crashes (client-caused)
Spoiler
I have reported the same issue for POE1 here, but seems to have been ignored: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3825578
I don't understand how this has not been acknowledged by GGG yet. Dozens of streamers and all my guild mates are suffering from that exact issue. Please, at least add it to your priority list because it makes the game unbearable. --- 1. Game fully freezes 2. GGG logo shows up 3. Screen turns black with the GGG logo up 4. Game unfreezes 5. Minimap is fully cleared ![]() --- This has been happening to me since 0.2, but only recently (as of 3.26) has been pestering me in POE1. This is clearly a DX12 renderer issue, as shown by the logs: " This does not happen with Vulkan, but Vulkan does not provide the same quality and performance (way lower frames and screen tearing) as DX12. Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris. Reflotado por última vez en 21 sept. 2025 13:07:58

same, its basically every map. Huge pause, cogs, wait wait, might die, finally renders again.

Had this, fixed it with turning vsync off and enabled upscale mode NVIDIA DLSS. not sure what fixed it, but one of those.

" I had DLSS on all this time, but I was running V-sync due to screen tearing at higher framerates. I disabled V-sync for now, will see how it goes. Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris.

Nope, turning off V-sync with DLSS on did nothing.

I have found out that this YET TO BE ADDRESSED issue takes longer between occurring when running the game in windowed mode (not fullscreen-windowed), but it still happens. A lot of the times the pause feature completely breaks during the renderer trying to restart itself, which is completely gamebreaking as I have no character control during that time, but monsters are still able to bonk me. Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris.

Have had this exact issue, and have been reporting it in the following threads:
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3846744/page/4 https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3836453 https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3833608 Since the logs show the info from the driver reset, I sent this to Nvidia, and they're just replying it's not from their driver. Seems to be caused by the game client. I've yet to try Vulkan API, but in one o those threads there's mention that it also happens on Vulkan. I've tried both on 581.29 and 576.88, and it seems like the older one has less instances of the issue, but it still happens. Just posting to make it clear its quite widespread, happening across CPU's and GPU's. And hoping GGG acknowledges - since sending direct support requests just gets you a "we're not providing gameplay or technical support responses over email" D: |

" Just tried some hours running 576.88 and Vulkan API and no cog of death issues. Performance is lower than DX12 yes, but no freezing at all. |
