Yea, it makes a big difference. The 'extra es regen' it gives STACKS with the converted life regen it gave at baseline.

Everywhere i look people say that they dont stack....also i checked PoB and i dont see any change to my regen when i add Pious Path (or remove it on your PoB)

(And yes Standing on Cons Ground is enabled in config)

There's not really any crazy combos, but you could build a DPS merc or use like, an aspect of the spider utility merc. The only thing I'd strongly recommend is putting a Perquil's Toe on your merc.

Doriany for merc are insane, with rings for -200 light res and a lot of life regen(unkillable even in t17 and ubers). Dark seer+singularity if use fallen reverend(wrath aura as a bonus).
Because of it you can also drop light pen for smth else, swap curse for punishment.
Before it i used bladecaster with spider and 3 curse on hit setup anathema(asenat+ele on hit corupt and ring with conduct), so u can tune tree and annoint amulet with smth else. You can even make it 4-5 curses/marks, just give him few more max pc.
