(3.16) NERFED DO NOT PLAY THIS Raider Archmage BF/BB [CHEAP, Tanky, HCSSF viable, (100m+ dps)

Sorry if this was answered somewhere previously, but what is the logic behind using Lightning Pen over Phys to Lightning?

In every PoB & config I've played with, it comes out better DPS on Sirus A9.

Blade Blase's increased area helmet enchnat seems not to be working.
I tested and the +24%AoE should be significant, or at least visible, but the AoE of BB seems to be the same with and without the enchant.

Please test it and if you agree, make a post under this bug-report so GGG take a look.

It's working fine. Keep in mind that the more inc aoe you get, the less visible the difference will be because the radius doesn't increase linearly.

Very easy to check versus static targets, like Kuduku, and having Southbound equipped.

Maximum cursor distance away from target without aoe enchant:

With aoe enchant:

Please link a PoB like that. Phys to Lightning is a massive dps loss. We get a ton of flat added lightning due to Archmage, Arcane Cloak and Sigil of Power. The converted phys from Blade Blast is negligible (albeit nice to have for some minor extra dps, e.g. on gloves).

Regen is perfectly fine, hiero offers way less defensive capabilities because it usually takes glancing blows which destroys your EHP and makes you very susceptible to shotguns, I would never consider hiero even in my top 3 for bfbb.

Actually hiero is very comparable.

I've struggled a lot on decision between leaguestarting with raider or hiero, that perma onslaught seemed very juicy, but still decided to go hiero for more endgame options and easier leveling.

- Sure, raider gets extra 30% cast and movespeed from 150% onslaught buff.
Hiero will still have normal onslaught while mapping from silver flask and later cinderswallow, but this is definitely a _huge_ win for raider on bossing and huge QoL on mapping, hiero is green with envy.

- Hiero wins back some of that cast speed by having 110% increased effect of arcane surge, for 20+ cast speed and more spell damage, but 60% of that effect is not free / has to be grabbed from tree.

- Hiero gets at least 46% max mana, 80% manaregen and 30% inc aoe from ascendancy tree.

- Hiero gets 4 endurance charges for 16 all res for easier capping and 16% pdr.
Hiero also gets 10% mom and transfiguration of mind, doesn't have to use crown helmet.

- Glancing blows is obviously trash now and takes a lot of points to pick up GB node itself and block nodes, hiero has to go Omeyocan boots for dodge, path to dodge cluster on tree and stack manaregen, raider gets free 15% dodge and has 20% less accuracy for nearby enemies.

- Overall, this makes for higher single hit ehp AND dot EHP on hiero when you _do_ get hit and likely higher total ehp pool unless you go Omeyocan on raider too.

- Raider doesn't need to proc exposure, hiero has to use trigger sceptre (which is not a problem since 4 sec one is still available from unveils, we don't want much beside some mana and cast speed or spell damage as noncrit).

- Hiero has extremely easy leveling with plenty of spell damage nodes and ele overload available early, raider gets to suffer horribly.

- Hiero has a ton of endgame archmage options open for when you no longer need that dodge for stopping to self-cast and instead kill things with duration spells or freeze them - brands, fb+ice nova pledge, blade vortex indigon, cremation, ball lightning, insanely huge single-hit EHP pool when speccing out of agnostic and going corrupted soul + sanctuary of thought variations.

- Raider can't really go indigon and will be spread too thin if you try to make a crit-based caster.

- Raider doesn't have option of raising base hit HP pool as drastically with mana as extra ES and has to stick with high dodge.

@ChemistHCSSF Would you use this chest over the Cloak? Also allows a different anointment, but not sure if the benefits outweigh the losses.

detailed write up with a lot of inaccuracies. You won't get as much EHP as a raider will.

-Your flask options are limited, ours aren't which allows us to dip into mid block, armour and evasion

-Your tree is so terribly unoptimized if you're picking up dodge cluster

-I looked at your character its pretty much the raider tree but with templar start and you travel all the way down to dodge cluster. This is very far from optimal

-lots more but first

I'd like to see a PoB that shows any of this.

How is it not optimal?

It's actually equivalent since both converge at same point on witch highway and path through same point by raider start, the only difference is starting nodes and ascendancy points. Even the dex is not wasted / is just 21 over level 21 bb requirement.

Yes, raider can grab some life + evasion, hiero can get ele damage, both can opt out for quicker exit.

Dodge makes perfect sense to survive on ultimatums and is known as most powerfull and efficient defense nodes on tree. I was grabbing supreme ego anyway, so actually grabbing glancing blows and shield nodes is 100% same point cost for me (17).

60/50 dodge with no flasks and 70/60 with does wonders.

That will exceed raider dodge in fact at cost of running omeyocan, which is a heavy investment but also allows you to run perma RF without flasks.

Only case where glancing blows makes sense is if you don't take agnostic and have high ES + corrupted soul, which is a viable option for hiero later on, but definitely not on league start compared to Omeyocan.

You definitely shouldn't run any block flasks with acro on softcore as that is the very definition of "inefficient".

Armor gotten from flasks with acro is nothing short of amusing, hiero giggles in background with 4 perma end charges.
Block is also heavily penalized with acro, so no to rumi's.

Yes, you will have extra evasion from cloak and ranger starting nodes if you choose to path that way, not sure how is it related to flasks? You're not suggesting to run a jade flask i hope, most people need just enough to survive most ultimatums, not to not die on hardcore.
