[3.21] Cold Conversion Summoner | Build guides for all budgets | (Ghazzy Zoomancer)

Well here i am Deadandlivin,
Gotta say thanks heaps for all the help you have given me and as i said in another post i got through level 25 simulucrum but that was the end for me.
I believe simulucrum to be the "testing" bench for builds because it negates all boss phases/special attacks/stupid 1 hits etc so old idiots like me just have to avoid getting hit rather than counting down and moving to where it is safe.
I am selling up all my standard builds cause i am simply sick of following builds that only work with several mirror tier gear such as the current strength
based shrapnel ballista build.
See what i have now and continue throwing ideas at me - and thanks again.
Hello
I'm really a beginner as I never played a summoner build before, and I would like to play this one next season. (Hoping it will be possible!)

I have read more than hundred pages of the thread to be ready, as also videos of "similar" builds explanation, but I'm not able to understand something important and I'm afraid to be completely confused.

What is the difference between this build (Cold Conversion Summoner) and Mage Skeleton summoner build like ghazzy's one for example? (if someone knows it)

Thank you again, especially to the thread creator who spent a lot of time answering to people, that's really impressive.

The biggest difference between my build and other traditional summoner builds is that my build is a hybrid summoner.

A build like Ghazzy's Skeleton Mage build is a pure mage build. That means that almost all of his damage comes from his mages. Everything in his build is used to juice up his mages as much as possible.

My builds are designed in a hybrid manner, meaning we're running far more minions that actually deal meaningful damage. My build runs Carrion Golems, Spectres, Zombies and normal skeletons. In my build, ALL minions are linked to damage links giving them very respectable damage. Why have I designed my build like this? Simple, it's just way more damage.

For example, instead of running one 6-linked minion in my chest, I decide to run x2 5-linked minions in it because the damage is much higher. It's just more efficient and you get more bang for your buck. You can only really do this with minions because they're always up compared to other active skills that you have to press reactively.

Well, thank you very much for your explanation, I start to understand things and differences now. And finally, I'm happy to see I didn't really "loose" my time watching videos.

I hope the build will survive the patch notes, really hyped!
Hi to Deadandlivin, need your advice on a few points please.
Previously you advised using "Phantasms" along with skellies in my helm but i feel that because the skellies do the most damage my present setup is best.
Your thoughts on that?

So i have put "Phantasm" in my chest but because they do not proc very much because of low spectre damage i am wondering if i should go back to the damage type spectre so they will proc more often.

Thing is the Carnage and Host chieftan buffs for the skellies works so well.
I am assuming that if i go for a damage type spectre the generation of Phantasms will be much higher? I can easily answer this myself i suppose.

Phantasms on single target i assume are probably useless because they would not be summoned?

Regarding gloves, like your idea of anointing gloves with prismatic skin but also like your idea of using Vixen's entrapment for the extra curse.

Build has so many variables i have trouble optimizing it.

Thanks for your help - really appreciated.

Phantasms get all modifiers of parent gems aswell as the support gems they're linked to. The Raise Skeleton gem has a 50% more minion damage mod on it.

You can see it at the bottom. The interesting thing with Phantasms is that they get the 50% more damage mod aswell which is why they pair very well with Raise Skeletons.

No matter what support gem you use for your skeletons replacing Phantasms, nothing will come close. If you want, you could link your PoB here and I could check out the damage difference running fully linked skeletons vs a Skeletons + Phantasm hybrid setup.

Personally, I don't think Carnage and Host chieftains work well with Skeletons at all. Problem with temporary minions is that every time you resummon them, they lose all their charges.
Chieftains have a 8 sec cooldown on their charge generating abilities.

So lets assume you're about to blast a boss in single target.
You summon all skeletons and the boss puts you into combat. The spectres get into combat and cast their mass frenzy/power abilities and give all your skeletons 1 frenzy and 1 power charge (Assuming you use 1 of each). The ability goes on a 8 sec cooldown.
The boss does an AoE ability and oneshot all your skeletons.
You now have to recast all your skeletons again and they will spawn without any charges. Now you have to wait for the cooldown of your Chieftains to end before they can get their first charge back again.

It's even worse during mapping becuase you constantly will be resummoning skeletons which means the uptime on their power and frenzy charges is really bad.

That's why I only think Carnage and Host chieftains are good spectres for permanent minions like Carrion Golems because they never lose the charges due to being resummoned which allows them to consistently get 3 of each charge. Skeletons will usually only have 1 of each charge (if that) until you have to resummon them again.

That's why I think running Necromantic Aegis with a 2 minimum power and frenzy charge shield is VASTLY superior for temporary minions like Skellies/SRS/Phantasms because it guarantess they ALWAYS have 2 charges.

Phantasms are very good on single target, especially if linked to Skeletons.
The phantasm gem has a 10% chance to summon a phantasm on hit. If you have ~12 skeletons up and all are linkd with Spell Echo you should be summoning 11 spectres in no time against pure single target bosses like Sirus.

Here's an example of me running phantasms linked to Spectres(Not running Skeletons here). See how fast x4 Spectres create x11 phantasms on single target.

We use Tempest shield only for the immunity to Shock?
Wiki says block chance do not count with aegis.

You won't get the block chance that is on the shield itself.
Any other increase in block chance still applies to you.
Okay pretty happy with my build thanks to you Deadandlivin.

Phantasm's back in helm, spectres are now Frost auto scouts.
Back to Vixen's gloves.
The spectres on their own actually do a decent job of clearing.
Tried Necro Aegis again but just felt to squishy so not for me.

Need to point out that i did use 2 each of the Carnage and Host chieftans so i assume to cooldown would be a lot less than 8 seconds?

Will swap out punishment for Petrified blood for very hard content.

Your thoughts on Demon Harpy spectres/?

Necromantic Aegis does not cause Tempest Shield to be applied to Minions. The block chance will be lost and Tempest Shield can no longer deal damage because you are not using a shield.[1]
