[3.13] Lancing Steel Deadeye/Raider | Very Fun Playstyle | 4-50M DPS Easy Gearing Path

Vouching for the build too!

It fun, fast, active! Still slowly building my character up but it's feeling better after getting beltimbers and a perfect form (definitely feel that I'm much tankier now).

On the other hand, the build IS very active... my hands/fingers are feeling it!

I'm running into another problem as well, but I'm not sure what to make of it. Specifically, my dps drops tremendously when fighting Elderslayers too.

It FEELS like the lancing steel projectiles are not really hitting them. This is just a feeling, based on the "sound" they make when hitting (audio cue) and how they're aiming kinda upwards at the elders (visual cue). My accuracy is capped btw.

I have no problems with other bosses in red maps, maven fights. They melt as fast as expected (although occasionally I'll notice it here too, not often though).

Not sure if it's just a gearing issue, my positioning (since I have point blank + farshot), or a possible bug with lancing steel collision tracking?

Anyway, I'm going to push the build further, farm up a savior then play something like cyclone or specters so my fingers can rest :D

"What I mean to say is, like the Raider tree and Darkray Vectors, is there anything that boosts dps or evasion, or anything really, on a PER frenzy charge basis? Love to hear anyone's thoughts."

- Are you already using an amulet that gives 6% increased damage per Frenzy charge? That seems like a big one if you're running close to 10 Frenzy.

More generally prices this season make this a really expensive build. I feel like I've got some money - I'm currently using 2x well rolled Beltimbers but even they were expensive.

Dying Sun is 200 chaos
Saviour is 8 Ex
Bottled Faith 12x
Watchers Eye w/pride 11 Ex
Ryslathas Coil 6 x

I don't know if we got a little unlucky this league or if these will all drop more soon since they're late game content but so far the build feels like a rogues gallery of some of the most expensive items in POE.

I'm enjoying the build and sitting at about 2.6 mill dps so far - which is working me very nicely toward red maps but my upgrades are starting to be insanely expensive... and not in a way that Harvest crafting looks likely to help.

Also my hands are killing me. As people have noted, this build is brutal on the old RSI. My next will be a 1 button wonder!

These are pretty much always expensive. Except Saviour for whatever reason last league went down to something like 30c IIRC. Won't expect that in the first week though; it's an incredibly rare drop off Sirus.

Among them, bottled faith is by far the least important (a complete skip if you're using Far Shot), followed by watcher's eye. Dying Sun should be the first pickup (it's huge and not too expensive), followed by Ryslatha's or Saviour depending on what looks good.

Dumping Beltimbers for Saviour+Paradoxica+Point Blank may be worthwhile if you're having trouble with the range. It definitely makes things a lot easier if you don't have to worry about keeping that sweet spot.
Right now I am using this Saviour, its probably the close to the best on RSC right now.

There is one fundamental mistake you made on your PoB though, and the build does nowhere near 50M. On the The Saviour you have

"100% more Attack damage"

but in reality that is not remotely true, since The Saviour has "x2 50% damage clones" and while at first glance it may seem that it essentially doubles your damage, this totally messes up the impale max stack calculations.

In reality it should be rewritten to

"100% more Attack Speed (if you have dealt a Critical Strike Recently)"

which will put the weapon more in line with what the actual damage is.

Now how do I feel about damage? For the investment, its pretty bad honestly (I rolled The Saviour myself btw). It doesn't help that 5000 projectiles are bouncing around with Deadeye Wall bounce node + Sniper's Mark makes a lot of stuff unseeable, making the survivability lower than on paper. For the amount of shit on the screen the damage should definitely feel better, but it isn't. The Saviour does definitely help in the instances where you just want to throw out your Lance and kite, but i still feel that Cyclone utilizes the weapon a fair bit better (although in fairness, Lancing Steel is up there).

Focal Point is definitely a must for the Deadeye route. It improves the damage to tolerable levels and helps both for clear and bosses. Which means Mercenary's Lot is pretty mandatory as well. Unfortunately, this means that the "Leave Marks on the ground" portion 100% useless since combining the two bugs the skill out and the Marks will never be on the ground, but at least you get mitigation for fighting in rituals. Void Sphere is also a must.

As a Deadeye, you definitely path to Blade Sovereign. Without the +4 Steel Shards, you will struggle to maintain any damage and improves QoL a lot. I think Raider should also definitely take this but you'll have to shave off 5 points off your skill tree. Swift Skewering is also nice, and allows 100% Impale chance without going Anomalous Impale, which means another 10% increased Impale Effect from quality.

Even if I somehow find a way to triple my damage through Paradoxica + CotIE + Coil as well as getting better gear and levels, but that is an insane amount of additional investment that I don't think I would put in (and Coil's damage is pretty similar to The Nomad, which is a more budget option while losing life).

The main issue though, is the amount of work you need to put in for the build to function. You hold RMB (Lance) button, use up 16 Steel Shards in one second (I really really wish that the cost goes down to 2 instead of 4), and then have to Call probably 2 times before unleashing again. You can continue holding RMB without using Call of Steel, but the damage is abysmal. At the same time you need to keep Fortify and Totems up, LMB move to automatically cast Enduring Cry, and maybe need to refresh your Mark. It REALLY sucks when you accidentally cancel your Call or Void Sphere with walk a single step during the animation. If only Call of Steel was a instant spell this would all feel so much better, but at the current moment its so much buttons and so much effort for ok-ish damage.

For anyone struggling with clear before having Pierce linked, you can buy a talisman with the piercing shorts notable annoint. Helps a ton!
So what's the best pick for amulet? Forceful skewering/Swift skewering or Blade Sovereign? Or +1 curses instead?

@BDtetra Call of Steel is basically instant with Lord of steel though?

I plugged this into PoB and the damage didn't change much (if at all) from the provided Pastebin. Did you try it?
Hm, you're right. I was sure that I tried doing this a week ago but checking it now it doesn't seem to change it.

Like the other poster mentions, this makes virtually no difference in PoB. It's all multiplicative, so it really shouldn't matter which term you increase. And unless I misunderstand impale, it's really just "1 + (max impale) * 0.1" more multiplier, once you hit max stacks.

I guess we'll just have to disagree on that one. Not many builds can terminate elderslayers in a couple seconds with a budget under 50ex; really just the absolute top meta builds in my experience at least.

If there's one thing this thread seems to show however, it's that Raider is definitely the way to go for endgame.

I always ran with +1 curses the entire time. I think in terms of raw numbers it's by far the best. I think if you really want vuln-on-hit ring though for the quality of life and that can be very hard to get with good life-on-hit since it requires double influence.

Yeah, I wouldn't even consider running this without the reduced cast time lord of steel; it would be awful. That was important enough that I added it to the OP when somebody pointed it out...
