[3.14] Gannicus, God of the Arena – Deathless Uber Elder for Everyone

Hello!

New to the game and leveling with this build.
Having loads of fun but I feel my dmg is lackning compared to my caster friend. We are lvl 50 he has 12kdps I have 1.5k. If someone here can help a new player out and check my build/gear to find what I do wrong it would be appriciated. Maybe casters are just superior early but it doesnt hurt to ask :)

NEVER compare DPS between different skills. It's completely pointless. They're calculated in different ways using different assumptions for enemies, positioning, density, hits, AoE and countless other parameters depending on the skill. DPS calculations ONLY make sense to compare the same skill with different gear, supports etc.

Regarding your question, yes spells are superior in this game. Especially if you're new. They're cheaper to make and can have a lot more damage. Usually they aren't as tanky though but in general PoE favors spells. Since you're new you'll have an easier time with a spellcaster. It's funny because I was actually thinking of adding this warning to the guide since there are new players starting with a melee build and having difficulties.

Finally noone can see you gear if its hidden.

Thx for the reply, didn't know it wasn't open. Should be able to see it now I think. Yeah I understand this build isnt so beginer friendly but it's so much fun I don't care :) Good to know it's easier for spell builds to get higher dps.

Soon you'll be able to use a Rigwald's command. That should be a nice damage boost. Then buy a cheap rare 6L with life and some resists. You should be able to afford one by then. Make sure you have weapons in your alt slots and use them to level gems for later. That helmet is just awful, you'd be much better off with a Goldrim. Search on google for leveling uniques to get an idea what's available.

I'm thinking to go with this build for next league. The guide is pretty clear and very detailled.
Do we need to care / cap chaos res?
I'm a bit afraid of chaos damage / poison and i'm afraid of possible OS

I don't have any chaos res and I can't say that's an issue. In certain situations it can be though. Zombies in deep delves are an example.
If you're concerned then just get some chaos res. Capping it is very difficult though, I'd suggest just getting to 0.

Added a comprehensive section about damage. It's a long checklist that will help you make sure you're doing maximum damage. The information was already in the guide but now it's all gathered in one place for easy reference.

3.15 will bring with it a lot of nerfs. The support gem nerf and the flask nerf will affect all builds.

So far I haven't noticed anything specific to this build but who knows... maybe Chris thinks block trivializes the game and needs to be taught a lesson. We'll see...

3.15 brings with it the biggest nerf this game has ever seen. Every single build in the game is NERFED HARD. GGG believes this will improve build diversity. However in the real world when it’s harder to get high damage output people are much more likely to choose whatever meta build is popular at the moment just to be able to complete the game.

Melee was already at a disadvantage compared to spells and this build makes things even worse. Another hit to build diversity.

The only positive side in all of this is that this build doesn’t use and of the mechanisms that were wrecked by GGG (triggered spells etc.) and should play more or less the same but with much lower damage. Survivability shouldn’t change much since we don’t rely on flasks for that and there were no changes to block or fortify.

I won’t be updating the guide for league start for several reasons. I might do it later on.

1. The guide is very long and detailed and the changes (especially mana cost) require a rewrite of some parts. I don’t have time to do this until Friday.
2. Before I posted this guide I played with the build for an entire season. I killed every boss and made sure everything works and is optimized. With the recent changes damage will suffer a lot and I need time to see if the build still plays well and think of possible solutions to the problems introduced in 3.15.
3. I was planning to play the league but now I’m not so sure any more. I won’t start on Friday, I’ll wait for the dust to settle a bit and see.

If you’d like to play the build this season go ahead. It should still play pretty much the same way but with much lower damage, like any other build. I couldn’t find any other relevant changes in the patch notes. Gear, flasks, tree, gems etc. are the same.

I played this build in Harvest and I can say it is one of the most tankiest builds I have ever played. I took a break and when I came back, several things have changed with Poe. Therefore I'm trying to keep up and getting ready for the next league.
I have several questions and would appreciate your advice.

1. I am still able to use precision on level one as it doesn't affect mana much but in some circumstances, I am out of mana, does it make a big difference if I remove it completely?

2. Is there any other suggestions for Ancestral Protector, any other alternatives?

3. I will be doing some gear upgrades. I believe first thing I should do is to buy a watcher's eye.

4.I saw that you went with cluster jewels, I am not really into it, so should I go for life/damage on the tree? Is there any specific nodes you can recommend?
