So is Arakaali's Fang a viable build now?

so did some theory-crafting waiting for the patch.

Managed to get the poison dps output of viper strike up to 3 mill without using assasin ascendancy.

Looks viable, though i am wondering if it's possible to just run around the map with the spiders and only need to attack yourself on the boss which would be hilarious as a build.

Spiders seem to not update apropriatly for me in PoB.

My Standart character with the old Arakaalis only had to Whirl around. Hitting packs with Whirling blade to get some poison stacks was allready enough for clearing, although my Crawler mostly only got ~10-20 stacks because the Spiders are not poisoning.

With the update, it should be great fun^^

What Ascendancy did you choose out of interest? I think the hole crit-multi conversion with Coralito's and the posion-heal from passive is preatty good.

I went trickster for all the proq% on kill effects/poison duration/DoT. The goal would be to let the spiders do all the regular killing and not even use the crawler, though with whirling blades he would definetly pop up.

And then go ham with viper strike on the boss once you rushed him.

I'm trying this at the moment with poison spectral throw pathfinder and the spiders supported by multistrike, minion speed and withering touch.

I like it so far, but I get the feeling the spiders don't actually trigger 100% on kill, for example I got a writhing jar to spawn spiders on bosses, but killing the worms does not seem to trigger it.
In maps I occasionally run low on spiders, but that might be because my HoA is stealing the kills :D

Also: supporting the spiders with poison does not seem to trigger virulence

I see that lot of people said very strange and incorrect things in this topic. I made Spider build before and I'm making it now(with success) and I can say that it's really good buff

I will straighten some things:
-max spiders is 20(dunno why somebody thought it's 18)
-Raise Spiders doesn't spawn only two spiders. It destroys nearby corpses and spawn 2 spiders for each. So 1 kill = even full army of 20 spider. Desecrate + Writhing Jar solves any boss problems.(Pathfinder isn't necessary, 1 Jar grants even 90 sec minion uptime.
-Leap slam removal and more movement speed is good thing. Spiders' AI wasn't so good and they were moving really retarded way. After this change they became more stable source of damage.
-they are immune so you can ignore the problem with their survivability now
-enemies won't target them which means that if you are planning to build summoner, better get some other minions to shield yourself.

About use of them. I made summoner build based on Fang in 3.5, not much melee. Mostly because Scorpio in busted as hell, combined with spiders does really good job.
Hell yes it is

Problem with "cast on kill": You need to kill. If you can kill, you don't need the effect and yet you need to kill to get it. Very hard to work that drawback into a build that can handle anything but specific encounters.

The answer to this is always USE WORMS for single target ;)
