Patch Notes 3.10 Change
Lahkesis Queen of Chaos is still fine 1 : No change to Essence Drain/Bane damage from 3.7
2 : CI variant is discontinued due to subpar defense and offense compared to Low Life and not as league-start-friendly as Life-based.
3 : No change to ascendancy choice/pathing.
4 : Passive tree remains basically the same (or feel free to path to certain mana nodes early on to take care of mana regen, and nodes with curse effects will be pursed as it's the main survival core of the build).

Build Mechanics
1. Essence Drain
Inflicts strong damage over time debuff on the target it hits and gives 0.5% damage as life regeneration.
3. Zealot's Oath
Converts all your life regen to ES regen, 0.5% regen from Essence Drain Damage gives you a lot of ES regen whenever your ED hits.
4. Curses
Life-based can have the same curse setup, using 3 or 4 curses below (if you play with Contagion and not Bane then you will have to choose between Temporal Chain and Poacher's Mark).
Maximum curses active: 3
Enfeeble: Lowering enemies' accuracy, crit chance and damage
Temporal Chain: Lowering action speed from enemies (cast/attack and movement speed)
Despair: Increasing Damage over time taken for enemies
Poacher's Mark: 3 frenzy charges. Uptime is 100% during mapping and delving. We receive 12% cast speed and 12% more damage and 100% increased flask charge gained upon killing an enemy for better clear.
We have a Temporal Chain aura. Even though our max curse limit is 3, we can slot in Poacher's Mark for Bane setup. When enemies approach, they'll be cursed with Temporal Chain first, and Bane will decimate them and give frenzy charges. Socket Poacher's Mark in the 4th position so that Temporal Chain, Despair and Enfeeble stay on bosses. See curse trigger order and socketed gem order above.
However, Temporal Chain has its downsides and will be nullified by map/delve mods with "Reduced curse effects", "Monsters' action speed cannot be slowed below base value" and, or combined with "Increased attack/cast/movement speed" and endgame bosses that have their action speed protected. This will make the usually relaxing playstyle harder and requires more aggression. These mods are also rather common!
5. Auras
For the most part, all variants (life-based and Low life) run the auras below as of 3.9, with low life having the advantage to run all of them. Alternative auras such as Arctic Armor can also work if you want to try out.
Low life aura setup as an example:
- Malevolence
- Zealotry
- Discipline
- Flesh and Stone (Sand Stance)
- Aspect of the Spider
- Temporal Chain or Purity of Ice/Fire/Lightning (preferably Ice/Fire) Vaal auras: Vaal Discipline. Vaal Grace/Vaal Impurity are optional and depend on your preference/budget/gear. Clarity is no longer needed. Arcane Surge from Bane and passive tree give enough mana regen. You can still run a low level Clarity if desired, but will miss out on either Sand Stance or Temporal Chain. However, it is still recommended running Clarity until you regen at least 60 mana per second with arcane surge active and if you're comfortable with your available mana to cast skills. Each aura is further boosted with passives that increase non-curse aura effects.
IMPORTANT:
The last aura of choice is split between Temporal Chain aura and a Purity aura. This depends on your gear. (Refer to Gem Links section for more info on Low Life setup)
A. If you have a normal Elder base ring, you will run Sand Stance and Temporal Chain aura. If you don't like Temporal Chain, socket Vaal Grace and probably Contagion for better clear speed, or Clarity.
B. If you have an Elder base Unset ring, you have some more options.
1) Run Sand Stance with a Purity aura and its Vaal version, Vaal Grace and Enlighten lv 3 to get more available mana (to ease mana regen burden with Clarity gone). Purity aura is chosen because it covers a lot of resist for that element while also raising max resist, so gearing is easier. Alternatively, Vaal Blight/Righteous Fire can replace Vaal Grace for more offense.
2) Slot in Enhance support linked with Temporal Chain + Blasphemy for another massive slow effect (but will still be useless when monsters' action speed is protected), and move Flesh and Stone to the Unset ring. Alternatively, Enlighten lv 3 can be used rather than Enhance to give more available mana. This however will potentially make capping resistances a lot harder and not recommended.
Profane Bloom [Ascendancy]
Our curses can apply to Hexproof enemies.
Chance for cursed enemies to explode when killed is 25%.
Contagion
A skill that allows you to clear the whole screen and mobs ahead of you and your ED has a much wider range to hit (hit any enemies in the Contagion-affected area to gain ES regen rather than just one particular monster).
Bane
This acts as both a powerful debuffing and damaging skill to enemies in an area. Linked curses are also applied to those enemies to do more damage.
Enduring Cry
More defense against physical hits, with up to 3 endurance charges generated in mapping and can build up during boss fights. The buff from this skill gives some ES regen (Keep this gem at the level that your total Strength allows). This skill is used once in a while or during dangerous encounters (abyss, syndicate, breach, etc).
Immortal Call
Best among (Vaal) Molten Shell and Steelskin as it consumes our endurance charges to last longer and more mitigation. It can last up to~2.5 seconds, including 28% less elemental damage taken and 66% less physical damage taken (gem lv 8, 20% quality). We can build up a new set of endurance charges while IC is still active.
Which setup is the best for me? How far should I min-max the build? Low Life or Life-based?
A. Low Life gives the most damage, and the most defense because you can reserve a lot of auras, defense and offensive-wise, so it's the strongest version of the queen. However, it's also the most expensive to achieve, and gearing is also quite difficult at league start due to a few required uniques to run smoothly.
B. Life-based is an interesting option. You cannot reserve life with auras, so damage-wise it's quite a bit less compared to Low Life. However, life-based has much worse defense - you are not immune to stun and big hits will most of the time stun you, forcing you to forgo Lunaris pantheon, so any chaining projectiles will hurt a lot in deep delve and high tier maps. The primary defenses you have is the Forbidden Taste flask, 2 Acrobatics keystones some degree of curse effects and minor utilities like Immortal Call and Enduring Cry. In which case, you're playing around RNG to avoid damage and have some mitigation tactics. This also means you can easily max out both attack and spell dodge with Vaal Grace which is nice. Regarding chest, you should aim for a 6L carcass jack, which is a lot cheaper than a 6L Shavronne's Wrappings. Carcass Jack + Hex Master + Lethal Assault notables on tree gives massive AoE for Bane, so this is very good for clearing. This makes it the cheapest option to gear and is suitable for league starting.
One more trick Life-based has that Low-life does not: Eldritch Battery. The key here is to have ES protect mana so that when you cast skills, you spend ES first and so you can reserve 100% mana without any requirement to increase ES recharge/regen rate or whatever required item such as Devouring Diadem helmet. This makes mana sustain a lot easier.
If you really want to invest in and min max the build and play for a long time, Low Life is the end goal.
Important notes for the build
Why are curse effects very important?
Curse effects
This explains why Lahkesis Queen of Chaos has very good safety overall in mapping and doing boss fights. It is important to grab skill tree nodes that give increase non-curse auras' effects (affecting Malevolence, Zealotry, Discipline, etc for both offense and defense) and curse effects (Temp chain, Enfeeble effects will further make enemies slower and hit for less damage). If you are dying a lot, it usually means you haven't had enough curse effects on skill tree!
Mana Reservation
You will need to invest into a lot of mana reservation reduction nodes on skill tree. This is to get enough mana reserved, aside from a Conqueror's Efficiency jewel with x% reduced mana reserve implicit.
Spiritual Aid (why we take minion damage passives, but not required)
A notable on skill tree that allows increase/decrease of minion damage also applies to you. This means we can spec into any nodes that say "Minions deal x% inc dmg" to further augment our damage output without having any actual minions. Only worth it when you reach high level. Survivability is preferred (raise your total ES first).
What makes Queen of Chaos really tanky? Where does all the thiccness come from?
Low Life setup is the tankiest setup and its defensive capabilities are shown below:
+ Up to 10k ES with Low Life (~9-9.5k doable), 1.5-2k natural ES regen per second and 5.4k ES recharge per second if defensively invested.
+ Blind (Sand Stance) + Vaal Grace + Lunaris Pantheon + Quartz flask can give up to 83% attack avoidance chance and 62% spell dodge chance. If enemies are outside the Blind aura they deal up to 17% less attack damage.
+ Physical mitigation: Up to 85% increased Enfeeble effects, Malediction in ascendancy (10% reduced damage taken from all sources), Lunaris Pantheon, 3 endurance charges, immortal call, basalt flask.
+ Elemental mitigation: Enfeeble, Malediction, Immortal Call and an option to run Purity of Ice/Fire/Lightning for 81% max resistance and Vaal Impurity of that element. 76% max lightning resist from tree.
+ Chaos mitigation: Enfeeble, Malediction and at least 65% chaos resistance.
+ Essence Drain can regenerate 6k ES per second or more if offensively invested.
+ Avoid all chained projectiles.
+ Stun immunity.
+ Massive slow with Temporal Chain (if not running Purity aura), hinder from Aspect of the Spider, and Wither from ascendancy.
+ Up to 54% increased non-curse auras' effects (Vaal skills are also affected)
+ 2 "life" flasks (consecrated ground and instant ES recovery flask)
+ Essence Drain can be run with Lesser Multiple Projectiles (replacing Void Manipulation) if damage feels enough in high tier contents despite the penalty from LMP to cover more enemies and gain even more ES regen.
=> Enemies will have to bypass solid evade/dodge layer first, then face all the mitigation, have to avoid getting hit by ED (yeah good luck with that while being slowed to a crawl) AND have to deal good damage to give the queen enough trouble. This makes her very resilient to all kinds of damage. However, watch out for any spell-dominant users with good damage like Atziri, Elder, Shaper, and don't get too cocky and try to facetank everything in the game.
Playstyle & Mapping & Delve
ED/Bane Version
Normally press Bane and it should be enough to clear one whole pack, and keep moving until you complete the map. This version also has a gem slot for Contagion, so you can use Contagion and ED to clear a load of monsters ahead of you. Keep flasks up while mapping, the faster the better.
ED/Contagion version
Self-explanatory. You're not using Bane, so keep spamming Contagion and then ED. The rest are just automated auras.
Difficult map mods to note:
Monsters' action speed cannot be reduced below base value
This makes Temporal Chain pretty much useless. This mod can be dangerous, especially in narrow/meandering layouts. With only Aspect of the Spider and wither, it's enough to slow down enemies' movement speed to base value. If you don't use Temporal Chain, this mod is nothing to worry about.
Monsters have increased accuracy/chance to dodge is unlucky
This reduces the effectiveness of Enfeeble, Vaal Grace by a noticeable margin in high tier maps. However this map mod is only dangerous with a couple other damage mods. Note that mod with "Monsters have x% chance to avoid blind" does NOT affect Sand Stance as it is an aura. Blind uptime is still 100% for anything within the aura. However if they have increased accuracy we will still take hits more often.
x% reduced curse effects
This directly affects our curse power, less slow and less dmg reduction for monsters. This is one of the most dangerous mods if stacked with damage mods and especially if you run Temporal Chain.
Players cannot regenerate life, mana and energy shield
The most dangerous mod, so it's best to reroll the map. All ES regen effects will be completely disabled and we only have our ES recharge. But if you absolutely want to run it, you can put in Vaal Clarity (up time is up to 12 seconds) and a Hybrid Flask instead of Panicked Life Flask for mana. Still possible to run these maps but up to you. This goes to show how adaptive and versatile the build is.
Any maps that have at least 3 increased damage mods for monsters
Avoid stacking too many of these, as it can prove to be very deadly for any builds. If you do not care about gaining exp, you can throw your body in any maps tbh.
Difficult bosses to note: Twinned Malachai in Core map Chimera, Shaper's guardian Atziri (Uber and High lv Atzoatl Temple) Uber Elder Legion generals Aul, Crystal King and other Delve bosses
DELVE
The build is tanky enough and has good damage to go very far in the Azurite Mine. At least depth +600 is doable with enough experience. You will not be invincible as the monster area increases and cap at lv 83 (T16 maps). Skillful plays will be rewarded as very dangerous mods will show up, difficult chambers at high depths and very challenging Delve bosses (Aul, Crystal King, etc).
Tips 1:Do not try to facetank rare monsters at high depths. Those have very high hp and their attacks do very heavy damage. Make sure to have proper mitigations up (flasks, Enduring Cry, etc) and play around them.
2: Try sidestepping when you follow your crawler along the path, to avoid running straight into abyss monsters that slam dunk (which has potential to one shot depending on mods), and the likes.
3: Try using Contagion + ED more often to keep your ES at full, and have Vaal Discipline used at the right timing. With ED/Bane and no Contagion, Vaal Clarity + ED linked with Lesser Multiple Projectiles is an option to give you time to fire ED the whole screen to recover ES instantly after each big hit. (GMP costs more mana) If you use Vaal Grace (highly recommended), this acts as a 2nd Vaal Discipline, allowing you to regroup with firing ED and position yourself correctly.
4: At higher depths, monsters' dmg will lean more elemental (aside from Abyss monsters/Rogue Exiles and some other low-tier monsters) so it is good to have a Sapphire flask as a lot of damage is cold. If running Purity of Ice, no need Sapphire flask. This can be switched for your Basalt flask when you do Abyss chambers.
5:Keep all flasks up all the time when you're clearing. It's key to surviving and dealing more damage to burst through things more quickly.
6: For regular encounters, position yourself so that you're not overwhelmed by monsters. Sometimes it is better to stand in corners and switch corners in quick succession while attacking each pack.
7: Don't forget Pantheon choices! During Abyss chambers it's best to have Soul of Ralakesh (to prevent being maimed), while Garukhan gives some extra move speed and evade chance and Ryslatha is solid for more ES recovery.
clear Maps / Blight / Legion
Here the new idea for Lahkesis Queen of Chaos to fast the clear speed and open legion and blight
you can when u just mapping swap shaper ring with The Hungry Loop ring
how to add gem on ring
the gem needs to be socketed in the ring before actually leveling the gem to level 20
when the gem level 19 and become 20 just level up it on ring
so u make ring with
Socketed Gems are Supported by Level 20 Increased Area of Effect
Swift Affliction (Can be Efficacy )
Intensify
Controlled Destruction
and put Contagion on ring and u lose nothing and still use full build
ED/bane/Contagion in same time

Bow/Staff Budget Crafting Guide
Before you can afford to craft the high-end bow as shown below, here is an alternative budget
Get a short bow (item level 50, normal rarity) same as the high-end bow, 5 links or 6 links for cheap
Use a Screaming/Deafening Essence of Woe to make it rare and it will give you up to Screaming Essence of Woe 75 - 84% increased Spell Damage
or Deafening Essence of Woe 95 - 104% increased Spell Damage
And finally, craft +x% to non-ailment chaos damage over time multiplier from your crafting bench.
If you can afford the 6L version of this bow and depending on your other gear, your damage should be enough to carry you up to Shaper.
Bow Endgame Crafting Guide 3.9
This is the currency you need to craft your high-end bow
First, you need a Bow with Low Dex like Reflex Bow ItemLevel 85 , because it requires less Dex to equip and you won't need to get Dex on your gear and good for new craft endgame Now after you have the bow, you need to make it magic By using an Orb of Transmutation on it.
After you make it a magic item, you need to spam Orbs of Alteration to hit this roll: +(31-35)% to Damage over Time Multiplier. The mod is very rare so you'll need to spam a lot to get it.
After you get Damage over Time Multiplier on the magic item, you need to make it rare by using a Regal Orb on it.
Next step is just RNG xD. After u make it rare with ( Damage over Time Multiplier ), and there will be other new added mods to the item, sometimes 2 mods and sometimes only 1. but we need the bow have only 1 mod, which is ( Damage over Time Multiplier), so you'll need to remove all other mods by using an Orb of Annulment.
But if you failed (removed the wrong mod), you need to start from scratch again. To remove all mods you need to use an Orb of Scouring. You don't need it if u got the right mod ( Damage over Time Multiplier) on your rare bow.
------------------------------------------------------ After you make a rare bow with 1 mod ( Damage over Time Multiplier), now the easy part is just using your crafting bench.
Can have multiple Crafted Modifiers (2 Exalted Orbs) Cannot roll Attack Modifiers ( 1 Exalted Orbs)
now use Exalted Orbs To Enchant (+1 to Level of Socketed Gems) 100% u got it
now after u have bow with (+1 to Level of Socketed Gems and Damage over Time Multiplier)
The mods You need from crafting bench are:
Can have multiple Crafted Modifiers (2 Exalted Orbs) +2 to Level of Socketed Support Gems ( 2 Exalted Orbs) 36%/40% to Non-Ailment Chaos Damage over Time Multiplier (4 Chaos Orbs)
Done! Now your bow is ready, GG, have fun and I hope yolike the build.
Bow will have 1 Suffix open you can use the New Crusader's Exalted Orb or Warlord's Exalted Orb But this part so lucky and expensive
Crusader's Exalted Orbif You Lucky You can hit Socketed Gems Chain 1 additional times
------------------------------------------------
Warlord's Exalted Orbif You Lucky you can hit Culling Strike
---------------------------------------------- Watch the Craft On youtube
NEW IDEA FOR CRAFTING HIGH-END GLOVES wait for new craft
this is the new gloves crafted for Damage. This will give the build about 400k - 500k extra Damage over time. Get Elder base Fingerless Silk Gloves item level 80+
Make it 30% quality with Perfect Fossil Use Orbs of Alteration to hit the following: +16% to Non-Ailment Chaos Damage over Time Multiplier Then multi-craft other mods: +x to maximum Energy Shield +y% increased Energy Shield Minions deal 20% increased Damage Non-Vaal Skills deal 60% increased Damage during Soul Gain Prevention
Pros/Cons
Pros + Very High Damage output + Decently tanky, safe to play + Can do any map mods + All Content + HC Viable + Very versatile, a lot of utility options (low life/life-based or even CI if you really want) + Decently fast clear speed, fun playstyle rushing from pack to pack + League starting is possible due to good damage output + Great boss killer, can do any boss + No need to use mana flask for mana regen😏
Cons - Cannot reliably do no-regen maps - Not quite beginner-friendly and takes time to learn all mechanics and gearing in the build (but worry not, this guide is designed comprehensively so that beginners can follow through) - Min-maxing with double corruptions is very expensive for high-end gear, and build only shines with certain investments and at higher levels - Essence Drain can miss against fast-moving bosses, has very limited AoE and requires re-casting the skill sometimes
All Content
✓ Shaper ✓ Uber Elder ✓ Uber Atziri ✓ T16 Guardians ✓ Uber lab ✓ Chayula ✓ The Elder ✓ The Pale Court ✓ Vaal Temple Map ✓ The Putrid Cloister
This is a walkthrough for all 10 acts and the first 3 Labyrinths.
If I come across anything else interesting to run, I'll do more runs. It usually takes a lot of time from me, so I appreciate your patience.
ES gear is usually hard to get at league start and you need A LOT of ES to feel safe in high tier contents (at least 9k, which is going to be impossible at league start), so level your witch as life-based variant. This means raising your total life as high as possible. The goal is to build up your gear, level and ascendancy via life-based and when you can afford enough currency to make the switch to Low life, you buy all needed ES gear at the same time or so to make a full respecc from life-based to Low life. This way you do not have to worry about not having enough ES when you start doing maps and beyond that.
What to look for when you start out:
- Pick up any rare gears along the way and keep progressing through acts. Everyone is poor at league start, so this semi-SSF mode is hard for everyone.
- Get the needed gems in the Leveling section, and keep an eye for uniques such as Wanderlust Wool shoes, Goldrim Leather Cap to help increase resist. Look for life on gear, the more the better!
- When you reach The High Gardens (act 8), farm for Porcupine divination cards to get a 6L short bow as the budget weapon. This weapon will stay with you for a long time until you can multi-mod it!
- Once you reach Blood Aqueduct in Act 9 you can farm repeatedly for a Tabula Rasa, which will carry you through at least white or yellow tier maps depending on your other gear and gems. This is also a good way to level up to get more passives so that you can spec into curse effect nodes and other important ones.
- Upgrade your gear gradually though acts and do the same in maps. There are rares with life, resists and probably some other utilities for cheap (1 alch or so).
What to look for once you start mapping:
- At least 4k total life for T1-T5 maps, 5-5.5k life for T6-T10 maps, and at least ~6.3k life for T11-T16 maps (including dangerous map mods). The numbers are just guidelines, small variance is fine as long as your clear speed feels smooth and doing bosses gives no big deal.
- Elemental resistances at least 75%
- Upgrade your flask setup. Keep an eye on Forbidden Taste on trade sites, it's massive gameplay improvement (aim for good life recovery roll), but you should get Uber Lab done first, to get Withering Presence to help counteract the chaos DoT from this flask. This flask should be cheap, as it's not commonly used. However, keep this flask at 0% quality so that you only take chaos DoT from it in 4 seconds and not longer than that! Other flasks include a Sulphur flask, a Basalt flask, a Quicksilver flask and a Silver flask/Eternal Life flask with removal of bleed, chill, freeze and curses.
- Get even more life on gear, a cheap corrupted 6L might be better than Tabula if you're lucky, or a 5L works fine.
- Continue farming for more Porcupine divination cards (look up where they drop in low tier maps if there are any) to get the 6L bow.
- Upgrade your Pantheon. Since life-based variants do not use Presence of Chayula, you won't be immune to stun. Thus, it's important to get Brine King major god to avoid getting stunlocked to death.
-Regarding the quiver slot, aim for any rares with life, resists since life-based does not use Soul Strike. Make sure you have enough Strength/Dex to equip the items you're looking for.
As you keep progressing through the atlas and reaching higher tier bosses and harder contents, try to go as fast as possible, keep expanding your atlas to the highest tier you can handle. At one point, you will get the bow and that will increase your damage to skyhigh levels as well as getting a 6L Carcass Jack. Keep farming for more currency, you should be comfortable generating currency at this stage, and have the options to stay with life-based or switch to ES.
Leveling 3.9
"
Start with Blight or Vaal Blight and Flame dash. When u hit level 12, go get Essence Drain and Contagion in act 3, and then Bane. In PoB all gems are added for use.
Leveling pastebin

Bandits: Kill all
Some Cheap items For start
Leveling Availability of Skill Gems
Essence Drain (Level 12): reward for Shadows after The Siren's Cadence (Act 1)
Blight (Level 1): reward for Shadows after Enemy at the Gate (Act 1)
Frostblink (Level 4): reward for Breaking some Eggs (Act 1)
Wither (Level 10): reward for Shadows after The Caged Brute (Act 1)
Contagion (Level 4): reward for Shadows after Breaking some Eggs (Act 1)
Steelskin (Level 4): reward for Breaking some Eggs (Act 1)
Temporal Chains (Level 24): reward for Lost in Love (Act 3)
Malevolence (Level 24): reward for Lost in Love (Act 3)
Flesh and Stone (Level 16): reward for Fallen from Grace (Act 6), can be acquired in Act 3 by doing the Siosa quest in the Library
In general: if you are able to get one skill gem from a quest but not all of them they'll be available for purchase from the skill gem vendor after quest completion.
Early on the best advice is to use Freezing Pulse (available from Enemy at the Gate, Act 1) until you can get your Essence Drain + Contagion combo running.
Before 3.8 it was possible to sell a blue / magic wand + any chaos skill gem for a wand with +1 to chaos gems. That has changed and will probably yield a wand with chaos damage now. Still worth trying the recipe.
All gems are at 20% quality (or more if you corrupt them into higher quality) unless otherwise stated. Most gems are best to have at lv 21, but usually lv 20 is enough. Arcane Surge should be at lv 7 to proc after 1 Bane cast. Empower lv 3 or 4 is fine. Any gems gated by Str/Dex requirement can be leveled up to the limit.
ED/Bane Low Life version
Essence Drain - Efficacy - Swift Affliction - Controlled Destruction - Empower - Void Manipulation or Lesser Multiple Projectiles
LMP can be used instead of Void Manipulation if damage feels good enough in tough contents. The utility includes firing 3 ED projectiles to cover more monsters, which is helpful during Legion encounters, deep delve and tough maps. GMP costs more mana and gives more damage penalty so LMP is preferred.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flesh and Stone (Sand Stance)- Malevolence - Temporal Chain - Blasphemy (1)
or
Flesh and Stone (Sand Stance) - Malevolence - (Vaal) Purity of Ice/(Vaal) Purity of Fire - Vaal Grace - Enlighten (lv 3 or 4) (2)
or
Flesh and Stone (Sand Stance) - Malevolence - Vaal Grace - any Vaal skill/Contagion/Clarity (3)
In setup (1), Clarity can replace Flesh and Stone and kept at low level if mana regen feels lacking, but losing Blind is huge. If you have an Elder base Unset ring, you can socket Flesh and Stone there and add a Vaal skill of choice or Enhance support to give Temporal Chain even more quality.
In setup (2), an Elder base Unset ring if affordable is much better to have a good mana pool available, without it, you only have around 100 mana available to cast skills. Clarity can replace Vaal Grace if mana regen is bad, but this has been tested and isn't a problem without Clarity (at high character level). Contagion can also replace Vaal Grace if more clear speed is preferred.
Setup (3) is for those who dislike Temporal Chain. A lot of options can work: Vaal Blight, Dread Banner (lessen accuracy further), Vaal Righteous Fire, Vaal Haste, Vaal Lightning Trap (for bosses), Arctic Armor, Contagion or Clarity, and more.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blood Magic - Enlighten (lv 4) - Zealotry - (Vaal) Discipline
Blood Magic needs to be at lv 20 (111 Strength) and Enlighten needs to be at lv 4 to go low life with these 2 auras.
There's a couple options here. Vaal Righteous Fire and Vaal Blight for bosses and a massive hinder effect (usually not needed) and cwdt + Immortal Call for defense (recommended for inexperienced players/ if you want more tankiness).
The last aura we have is Aspect of the Spider (reserves mana), which makes enemies take more damage on each spider stack and applies another source of slow. Cast when Damage Taken lvl 6 Immortal Call lv 8
The combo cwdt + Immortal Call gives some extra elemental and physical mitigation at the cost of 3 second cooldown.
ED/Contagion Low life version
See PoB
Low Life gear 3.9
Note that my gear is mirror-tier, and you in no way need half of the gear I have to do up to Uber Elder (no need double corruption, +1 chain for ED, a much cheaper Watcher's Eye can be obtained instead for your budget).
Life-based gear 3.9
Flasks
Best to have the following 5 flasks for Low Life setup:
IMPORTANT NOTEWitchfire Brew flask only helps increase your total DoT if you have not invested into any curse effects on skill tree, or have a low level Despair gem. Once you have obtained endgame gear, get more levels and spec into curse effect passives, your Despair gem at lv 20 and 20% quality (linked to Bane for an extra 10% increased curse effects - 20% quality Bane) will outperform the Despair aura from Witchfire flask by miles. Recall that curse auras take priority and override other curses when the maximum curse limit is reached, the Despair curse from the flask (which is a default lv 21/0 quality Despair with 0 curse effects) will override your much more powerful Despair curse linked to Bane.
This leads to a hefty loss of total DoT, as indicated by negative numbers in PoB when you check this flask. The more DoT you do, the higher the loss of your overall damage.
Tl;dr: DO NOT use this flask after you have obtained high-end gear (including high level/quality gems/curse effects)! Quartz flask Gives phasing, great for delve and getting through mobs, and chance to dodge certain attacks and spells. Basalt Flask More physical mitigation. Quicksilver flask Gotta go faster.
The last flask slot is split between a Panicked Divine Life flask with a suffix of choice and a Stibnite flask with a suffix of choice. Each provides their own pros and cons.
1. Since we don't use Witchfire anymore, a magic Stibnite flask will help provide blind as another layer of defense in lieu of Witchfire, which gives us up to 60% chance to avoid melee/projectile attacks if enemies are blinded (which is just a situational scenario because enemies have to be in the cloud to be blinded) and the Quartz flask is also active. However, our spell dodge without Vaal Grace remains to be piss poor because Stibnite flasks do not protect against spells.
2. The new tech Panicked Divine Life Flask has to be used after Sorrow of the Divine becomes active. It can give up to a FLAT 2160 ES healed instantly. Coupled with upgraded Ryslatha pantheon, the number is 3456 ES recovered instantly! This is another great layer of defense when Vaal Discipline is not ready.
3. Other suffixes such as immunity to bleed, freeze, ignite will work much better for the life flask as curses applied on you during a map will not be removed if you are on full life/ES and try to get rid of that curse. For this reason, DO NOT put Warding suffix on the Panicked Divine Life flask.
In general, the Panicked Divine Life flask seems to provide better ES healing with immediate recovery + regeneration from Sorrow of the Divine for emergency situations. Flask Prefix Chemist's, this allows you to spam flasks more often without running out of charges during mapping and delving. Flask Suffix Dousing (Ignite removal), Warding (Curse removal), Staunching (Bleed removal) and Heat (Chill and Freeze removal)
Jewels
If you cannot afford a Watcher's Eye Prismatic Jewel with
+x% to Damage over Time Multiplier while affected by Malevolence
Gain +x% of Maximum Mana as Extra Maximum Energy Shield while affected by Clarity any rare jewel with
x% inc max ES and chaos dmg/resistance/Strength can be obtained instead. An abyss jewel for stygian vise should give some flat ES amount, damage over time if possible, and even resistance or to fulfill strength requirement. A defensive Watcher's Eye with
"x% increased ES recovery rate by Discipline" "y% increased life and ES recovery rate by Malevolence".
These 2 mods will greatly boost ES recharge rate (and we take advantage of our total life pool to further boost ES regen/recharge through this combination of mods). For life-based variant instead of the Discipline mod you can get more damage with chaos damage over time multiplier + Malevolence mod, but will be very expensive and not worth it.

5 Cluster Jewels interesting notables to use
6 awakened Gems

Frostblink (Level 4): reward for Breaking some Eggs (Act 1)
Wither (Level 10): reward for Shadows after The Caged Brute (Act 1)

5 Cluster Jewels interesting notables to use
6 awakened Gems

PoB for 3.10
ED/Bane Setup can have up to 7 auras, more damage and defense. aslo useing new ring for Contagion The Hungry Loo
