Map Boss HP is retarded / not worth it / waste of time / GGG do you even try

Bosses have become do once (or pay someone to do them) for atlas brownie points and skip afterwards.

The solution after global nerfs to plays would have been to NERF shapers and guardians to even out the curve instead of create an even greater disparity between bosses and non bosses. Now people will just skip bosses completely.

At the very least, buff the drop rates on bosses.
Also, T16 bosses seem to have their drop rates harshly nerfed but I can't find anyone that is actually doing them post 3.0 to confirm.

You are so right..i've made a post my self too but they dont really care..i've made a wastedland map boss on my 11k RF with elemental equilibrium and flamability.. took me 5 mins to drop boss 5% then guess what? he regen back to full...had to call for someone who had a 20 milion dps build to kill it ...i mean WHAT THE FUCK ???
I was thinking about coming back for this league. I guess I'll pass.

Did they buff act bosses too? Am I gonna have to get an OP person to kill bosses I've killed 1000x or spend 5-10+ minutes on a fight because I'm not using BiS gear?

That sounds mind numbingly boring, to be honest.

on my standard characters where i could respec directly into what i wanted and load up my 6L gear and OP stuff and 20/20 gems, the map bosses hp isn't an issue. im already plugging away at t15s trying to get back to the guardians to test my setup to see what is optimal and it isn't an issue.

even on one of my standard characters with insane dps and such, i just wanted to test something so i ran a tier8 map which just happened to have something like 30% inc boss hp, and that boss took like 30 seconds to kill. i forget the map, but it much have been a naturally high hp boss or something.

keep in mind this is a character that can clear end game content and clear it fast. normally i can kill mid tier bosses in about 2-3 seconds. and yes, 30 seconds is a long time.

problem with drawing the fights out is that the game has naturally evolved into everybody being a glass cannon because of a few reasons
#1 everybody is glass regardless of defenses. doesn't matter if you have 70% chance to evade, you'll get one shot. doesn't matter if you have 12k ES, you can still get one shot. doesn't matter if you have 9k life, you can still get one shot.
#2 best defense is a good offense. kill before you're killed.
#3 best defense is a good offense. vaal pact is a NECESSITY because life pots almost don't even exist anymore. they don't regen enough, they don't regen fast enough, they don't have enough charges. this is regardless of how you augment them. thus your main defense is your life leech, so you want as much dmg as you can get to leech as much life as quickly as possible.

so when fights are now lasting way longer there is more time for you to mess up vs the mechanics and get one shot, more time to just get one shot by their overtuned adds or something else, more time for you to waste all your flask charges without making any progress (need to portal out constantly), etc etc


This is very accurate. I have said it many times and I will repeat it again - I do not think the recent balance changes (especially the boss one) were thought out at all.

I believe that the issue they actually need to look at is the one that you have described - that everyone, no matter the investment, is a glass cannon (with some niche exceptions that can STILL get instagibbed in certain situations). The best defense is offense - kill the enemy quick enough or you will die, either by screwing up or due to latency (let's be honest here, dodging attacks doesn't really work that well in online-only games). Even Shaper, final boss of the game, is essentially a dps check; his attacks are not that difficult to avoid. However, you need to kill his adds fast enough or Zana dies and you die in orb phase, and you need to kill him fast enough before the arena becomes unmanageable.
They're not even worth killing 99% of the time like the fucking boss in Vaal city hits like a FUCKING TRUCK and he drops like 3 rares on a high tier mod? hahah pretty good.

when were ANY balance changes in this game thought out? Literally any good unique that was worth exalts got so nerfed nobody else uses it and they cost a bunch of Chaos now

Voltaxic, WindRIPper, Reach of the Council, now that ppl started using Death Opus as the main Barrage bow they nerfed that one too.

Mjolner and Cospris, also Voll`s Devotion as a result. And the list goes on
I skip map bosses since few years except since Atlas has been released i'm killing them one or two times.

The risk VS reward has always been horrible even for 2/3 seconds spent on these bosses.
Or i mean, it's the less efficient way to get wealth. There are too many ways and faster one to achieve this goal, with less risks, and way more rewarding.

If we push a bit further we are going back to a long discussion about how economy is in Path of Exile and forum will burn again etc ... well no thanks i'm out now that i play 2h a month.

Just to point out that the map bosses HP can be 100 or 100000 it's absolutely not the main problem.
This is a design problem. And not a small one.

This balance devs flip flop in this game worse than whores. Its ridiculous. While reddit sucks off the admins and shit daily, ES is a mess and now were back to the long lost time where fighting bosses is arguably a waste of time...outside of getting the atlas bonus of course.
