Hey guys, I'm looking to try uber and shaper soon so could I get some feedback on my gear about whether it's enough. I feel like my damage is lacking a little compared to what some people are reporting and I'm not sure where I should improve asap. I know I could use a better enchant on my boots and gloves which I intend to grind out today, I'm also lacking accuracy but I'm struggling to find it on the rings/ammy with the other rolls I need. I'm killing guardians quite easily but not as fast as I expected.

Silver Flask gives you better clear speed because of the boost to movespeed, but you can swap in ToH to improve offense and defenses versus T16 bosses. If you are doing a lot of damage on your AoE clear skill and can 1-shot most packs you might consider using Innervate in the links to gain Onslaught while mapping and ditch the Silver Flask in favor of a ToH. Another possibility is upgrading the Silver Flask to a Kiara's Determination if you don't have Skyforth and are concerned about stuns.

thanks. that's pretty informative.

I'll try the innervate idea, taste of hate feels safer than silver flask even though you lose clear speed. It feels wrong to just leave a taste of hate in the stash and only use it on t16/shaper/uber atziri.

Which link do you take out from LA for innervate?

I got LA - LMP - PPAD - Inc Crit Strike - WED - Pierce

Pierce. Ideally it would be Inc crit, but I'm guessing you're using ROTC?

I'm actually using death's opus :S. should I replace pierce still? right now i replaced Inc Crit and it seems like I still one shot mobs.

I'm saving up for a bow upgrade right now. Looking at buying a legacy ROTC. There doesn't seem to be any reasonably priced harbinger at the same price as legacy ROTC.

From what I understand, you need a 450pDPS harbinger to beat a death's opus... so might as well just get a legacy ROTC.

Not quite - how an Opus compares to a Harbinger entirely depends on how many extra arrows you have from your gear and what your crit multiplier is. The reason for this is that all forms of damage scaling experience diminishing returns, so the extra arrows and crit multiplier on Opus become less significant if your arrow count and crit multi is already high. once you generate an additional 6 arrows from Dying Sun/Helm enchant/Quiver, and once you reach 400 or more crit multi, Opus is equivalent to around a 320pdps Harbinger, and that is assuming that the crit chance is equivalent for both bows.

However, you need to make a decision before upgrading: do you get a legacy ROTC, or do you keep farming with Opus and save up for much stronger high end Harbingers (450+ pdps). If it were me, I'd definitely skip the ROTC completely and go for a Harbinger, but you might feel differently if you want to ultimately try other builds and don't want to sink a ton of currency into this build. However, Signalshot really spoils you - once you get the damage to very high levels, you'll be questioning why you'd ever want to play any other build ;).

You certainly have enough dps to take down Shaper, but it will take a while. You can make the fight easier by:

1) Setting up a Spell Totem + Elemental Weakness (-18% resists gives a nice big multiplier in conjunction with your penetration, moreso once you get the boot enchant)

2) Setting up a Jaws of Agony in the second weapon slot makes it easier to burst down Shaper without having to wait until you generate charges while hitting him

3) Swapping a QS flask for another dps flask such as Atziri's Promise; Wise Oak is even better especially if you can equalize your fire and lightning resists. QS mobility isn't that critical in the fight, since the movespeed from ascendancy and from onslaught is already enough. You'll be obviously slower between phases, but at least it'll make the phases go by a lot faster

4) In the fight you don't need to facetank through any hits, so you might even consider swapping in Maligaro's Virtuosity or Rat's Nest at the expense of some ES (and resists). Both might even allow you to replace that ICS gem in your links for a fat multiplier to your damage, since you might already be at the crit cap anyways with a Diamond Flask. Beware of ICS and the tooltip dps inflation: the gem isn't necessarily as good as the tooltip might make it seem, particularly because you get more out of a Diamond Flask at lower crit chance levels.

5) Is slower projectiles giving you more tooltip dps than PPAD in your Barrage links? PPAD is the bigger multiplier - swap it in to see how much more dps you can gain from it.

6) You can consider adding Blood Rage (potentially linked to an Enhance gem) to squeeze even more dps out of your build. Blood rage is too risky when mapping, but against Shaper you simply want to burst him down asap so turning on Blood rage at the right moment might be doable.

You can also consider setting up Frenzy + GMP to gain some more dps just before entering the second and third phases, or to gain those charges during the add phase of the fights. Might help.

One thing of note about that penetration boot enchant: according to the wiki, along with the chaos damage enchant it is 4 times more rare than the other enchants, so you will have around a 1/60 chance to get it. You might have to run lab quite a bit, but at least you can make some profit from the chests if you're fast enough. I ended up getting it in around 50-60 lab runs.

for barrage is barrage+wed+slower projectiles+added light+elemental focus

you sure it's not phys to light?

...vs shaper/guardians i have

169.972/ per arrow with phys to lightning and with added lighting is 179.355/per arrow

also tooltip in hideout is 29k vs 31k..

personally i didnt have in much reputation the added lighting support and then i started using it when i read about it in another build.. testing yesterday in both LA and barrage and i am very happy with the results..

along with your advice to use path of building did changes in my gems and tree and my total dps vs shaper/guardian went from 821k to 1076k :)

You might have an interesting option on your hands if the added lightning damage is giving you good dps on your Opus set-up. Try out Thunderfist for the beefy flat lightning damage boost - not only will it boost your Barrage dps, but you'll effectively gain a 5.5 link for your LA (if we count the 1-100 damage as half a gem link) and open up another 5L on your bow. You might consider using that for a Totem to help in situations where you plop down a high dps totem while you kite, or plop down a totem to help versus high mob density situations (breaches, beyond etc.)

Just a thought :). Your current gloves don't have much ES anyways, so perhaps it's time to experiment a little with the glove slot!

My crit multi is only 538 and that's with a death's opus. So I guess I have a long way to go.

I am putting all my efforts into this build so I guess I'll see what comes my way from my farming. I suppose I'll change my efforts towards farming for headhunter instead of legacy ROTC.

Thanks for the tips! I see you in this thread and on reddit often talking about this build. Your dedication is much appreciated.

EDIT:

in the OP blasting_cap says to use Herald of Ice + Curse On Hit + Poachers. Is that better than using Herald of Ash?

My educated guess is that HOI + curse + poachers is better for mapping and HOA is better for bosses?

hey man nice tip, i have actually forgoten the thunderfists... of course my gloves have 15% attack speed and accuracy so i ll loose some dps, also lightning resist that help me balance Wise Oak so another headache for this night.. :)

i ll report later for the results..

OK.. time for report..

THE GOOD: damage increase from 179.355/per arrow to 190.332/per arrow... total effective dps increase from 1076k to 1141k..

considering i dont have any source of extra arrows i think i am ok..

THE BAD: i lost 200es and had to drop herald of ice, power charge generation Was too slow for my liking.

Correct
Ok status update:

rng favored me and after aprox. 200 fuses got my 1st 6link! in legacy :)

With this gem setup barrage tooltip dmg in ho "skyrocketed" to 41k and path of building calculates 235k per arrow up from 190k! so total dmg against guardians-shaper equalls to 6*190k = 1410k = 1.4M

and i miss 5 additional arrows ( dying sun 2, helm enchant 2, 1 from corrupted signal fire) so in theory total dps is around 11*190k = 2M against top bosses! all these with a humble death's opus.

i field tested it in a minotaur map with easy mods.. all trash died in 1-2 shots from a 5L LA ( essentially a 4L due to power charge on crit used) and minotaur died in under 3 sec.. i was so impressed i stopped and died from the golems! lol

so in total kudos to build creator, i can't even begin to imagine with gg gear the power output of the build..

i have to admit that having played before a poison based barrage build (with gg gear- legacy RotC, facebrakers with vuln on hit, cospri's will, dual curse, the retch belt etc etc) i just couldnt imagine i would find something stronger.

p.s. CI are sooo glass cannons, i miss dodge chance/high evasion, maybe this build life based could be equally strong.
