Hey Crew,

Was there any talk of Pledge of hands for this build? Thoughts?

I used PoH for most of the time I played this league. It worked amazing early on as it scales damage higher with less of a mana cost from any alternative (at least budget alternative). You also get the benefit of a second 6L. However, the mobility factor is noticeable as it takes 2x as long before you can move again, and you need an alternativemeans to casting BO. I eventually opted to forego the staff.

I just wanted to share that I got my first 40/40 challenges (just today), my first level 100, and my first deathless Sirus 8 (or several) all thanks to this build. It's pretty great.

I checked your profile as I was really intrigued about your feat and I noticed that you swaped Chain supp for Elem pen, I tinkered in pob a bit and it seems better on paper but how does it really perform in game ?

i'd guess it's plain better for bossing maybe ?
but i wonder if it wouldn't impact negatively early mapping or not.

Best regards

Reaching 100 is quite an achievement, and 40/40 is such a dedication. Congrats and great job!

I went with Ele pen mostly so I didn't have to stack dexterity for Chain. I had enough trouble getting what I have now.
Clearing is great even without extra chains, although I can get stuck on particularly dense crowds under "allies cannot die" aura because I can't reach the rare with the aura.
In fact, I've ripped a few times while grinding XP in Tunnels because a Soul Conduit revived an Allies Cannot Die along with a giant pack.
I'm not sure how they compare in bossing, but remember that Chain has a high mana multiplier, and extra chains mean extra damage on first target.

I think the best option for bossing is still Arc + Controlled Destruction (instead of Chain or Elemental Penetration), with another active skill for Storm Brand/Hextouch/Conductivity. I remove a few support gems (Increased Area of Effect, Increased Duration) to make these fit.

Because Controlled Destruction reduces the Critical Strike Chance for Arc to 0, we rely on Storm Brand to crit. Because brands keep hitting even when you're dodging bosses' attacks, I think this actually gets you more consistent up-time with the Elemental Overload passive (40% damage if you've crit in the past 8 seconds).

The play-style is (1) Cast Storm Brand, (2) Spam Arc, (3) After a few seconds (whenever you feel like it) or when Storm Brand isn't visible on the boss, cast Storm Brand again. I honestly am not that careful about recasting - I just press the button once every few seconds.

With Controlled Destruction, Arc on my build does 4.5m Sirus/Conqueror DPS. With Awakened Controlled Destruction, that goes up to 4.8m. For comparison, it does 3.4m Sirus DPS with Chain, and 4.0m DPS with Elemental Overload.

Note that Conductivity is an added damage bonus, if you don't have it in your wand or as a ring affix.
The Elementalist rework is a massive buff for this build! I've already planned to go back to Elementalist anyway, and now this already decent setup just got much better.

I'm Loving it :D
my beloved totem starter is dead for me with the heiro gutter nerf. Hope this build is still as easy and cheap to equip as it was when i last played it in Breach league.
Cool. I was kind of expecting a buff to elementalist it is nice that we finally get it, and I can play elementalist again as a caster. I'm excited for the arc build I think I will use it as starter, as arc is cool! And finally no corpses to lag me out. :-)

Do you have an early POD of your plans Enki?

Oh HELL yes, this is the rework you asked GGG for and that we all have clamored for for years. I am so excited to take this build back to the elementalist and play with our shiny new toys!

Shaper of Storms: finally we can start pushing shock back toward being a major source of extra damage with the multiplier from 25% more shock effect. Won't be able to use Hypothermia, but perhaps we will be able to use Elemental Focus if the ascendancy overrides the gem and lets us still shock. (My guess is no, but we can hope!)

Liege of the Primordial/Elemancer: mostly the same OP golem buff stuff as before, but with the HUGE new advantage of golems resurrecting themselves automatically. No need to keep golems in trigger wands at all to ensure they stay active. We can even use a wand and shield instead of dual wielding to push block as another layer of defense.

We could even drop golems altogether if we want to take all three of the useful new keystones instead of choosing just one:

Mastermind of Discord: now gives an extra 25% lightning penetration and 1% mana regen, both of which have great synergy in an Archmage build.

Heart of Destruction: 30% more multiplier for boss damage with 50% uptime but otherwise unconditional? Yes please!

Bastion of Elements: reflect immunity and some other layer of damage absorption good for 2000-3000 life; details unknown, but probably even better in combination with Arcane Cloak.

So many options, so exciting! Can't wait to see where you take this, Enki!!
