I recently farmed 3/4 Incantation cards. I got crazy at the end and a friend gave me the last one.
This zone drop 4 different cards : Carrion Crow, Incantation, Lifesprig + Maligaro. I got countless of carrion sets, but what's crazy is that during this grind (between 166% and 187% IIQ) i only got 8/9 on the lifesprig and 1/9 maligaro. In more than 10 hours grind, by a dedicated player with legacy IIQ gear and a build made for farming i didn't got a lifesprig. If i decide to trade and sell one of my incantation for 2 ex i could trade again and buy around 80 lifesprig. And we still think those cards are made for self found players... They're not made exclusively for self found players, but you can't deny they help them. I'm pretty sure you weren't "lucky" for the lifesprig cards and you should have gotten at least one, but even so. You farmed 10 hours and almost got one, let's assume that you would have gotten one in 12 hours or so. Let's also assume you're a self found player only. 12 hours to get the lifesprig you specifically want is still a huge improvement before the situation pre card, where you would have no other options to farm whatever boss you like and hope for the best. Cards guarantee a self found player that he WILL get a lifesprig, even if it takes him 10 or 20 hours. He could farm Merveil or Brutus for the rest of his life without seeing one.

" That's a bit high. Keep in mind though a corrupted Voll's devotion with a good roll easily goes for 50 exalted orbs though. I think it should have the same or slightly lower (1/2, 2/3) the droprate of an exalted orb. |

" No that's a self imposed illusion by the community. GGG never stated anywhere they where aimed or designed for SF players. Any reasonable person would have dismissed such a notion instantly given how this game functions at it's core. They help SF players, certainly, but that's a side-product of their implementation and not the targeted goal. The targeted goal is 1) split up the acquisition of high-end items (farm a few cards yourself and buy the rest one at a time, which splits up the overall cost for a player) 2) create more availability of the items themselves on the market if desired by the community (if people demand a high amount of volls devotions, they will naturally flock to farming dried lake instances on mass, creating a higher influx in the economy of this item) The opposite is equally true, if volls is no longer desired the availability will drop since people will no longer flock to dried lake farming but to an alternate card. 3) provide choices to the player-base in therms of item acquisition (farming with mf gear? or with a speed iiq build for cards? and which instances would i do this in? what would yield the most profit?) At least that's how i perceive these cards and there effect on PoE. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

" I don't know what the actual currency vs div card drop rate correlation was, only that 1:1 was not correct. Someone mentioned that the exalt orb div card was about the same as a vaal orb (not sure if this is correct) so I guessed 10x. No idea if it's 5x or something else. Now that the numbers are no longer available I guess we'll never know for certain. |

" Sure I read his post and I don't get it where the problem should be. I've played PoE for about 800 hours. In this time i found 5 Exalted Orbs. This makes 160 hours/Exalted Orb. He already found 3 Cards * 2,5 Ex = 7,5 Ex in the first week and now he is bitching about it? Seriously? Two friends of mine and i farmed dried lake together for about 100-150 and we didnt get one single card. Do we complain? No, because we know the value... Furthermore he mentions that it would take up to 75 hours to farm the currency to buy the amulet? I would be very pleased when he shares his secret with me how he makes 26 Chaos / hour (30 Ex/75h = 0.4 Ex/h = 26 C/h) while farming :-) |

" That is very doable and easy. Overall if you take my played time which most was spend levelling and divide it by my total currency earned all around I think you would get a figure slightly higher than that. Chaos recipe and regal recipe. If I run mf, and run 75+ maps I keep getting rare items drop. I sell the set to vendor for 2 regals = 4 c. I can easily get 5 sets together within an hour since I would run maps quickly. So I get 10 regals = 20 chaos. And that excludes some top tier drops you may get I still have a crown of eyes and Death rush in my stash. Crown of eyes went for 20 exalts I believe (haven't checked price) and Death rush for something like 7-8 exalts. With an item rarity build with something like auraseize gloves, goldwyrm, item rarity rings and the blue int gem you're bound to find Tier 1 uniques frequently from higher level maps. If you also factor in an occassional Kaoms heart, Shavronnes, windripper, crown of eyes etc drop, then 30c / hour is very doable. Probably normal for farmers. If you aren't clearing 75 maps in 5-7 minutes your build is not suited for Warbands, likely also not for Tempest as it is too slow. |

" Considering you farmed a low level non map for so much hours I don't think you really know how to farm efficiently. Hope my post helps. It gets easier the more you play and the more able you get to identify good items and mods from bad items / unwanted items and mods. I don't get it why people complain about not getting enough loot in this game as it drops plentiful. The only complaints I have is some unpreventable or stupid deaths, though some have been removed (like reflect and thornflesh from bloodlines) some still remain. Corrupted bloodline is too powerful on higher level maps and if you AoE kill a bunch of vaal fallen you're death usually before you can use a staunching flask since corrupted damage is their base damage over 4 seconds. But they got roughly 5k base damage in residence. So if you kill like 6 of them together without looking at the mod, you're getting something like 7.5k damage within one second, very likely if you haven't noticed your reaction time would be too slow to even react. Another issue that I have with bloodlines mods, and I'm upset more about this one since I actually lost a character to this (not the corrupted bloodlines) are the bearers packs from bloodlines. They drop a bomb on death. Though sometimes if you get a whole pack of those blue beetles, kill some of them and have another swarm over them you notice the bombs when they explode, this means your character is already dead. My case however was on water in Reef map vs frost bearers doing instantly 4.6k damage. Due to the water effect and clutter of ground effects I couldn't even see them, one of them died later and I was like: how can you even see that!? Bond of Chaos, reflect etc are easy to identify. It would be nice of GGG to make these insanely strong mods on blues have some kind of indicator that they have them. For the bearers a frost fire or lightning circle would be nice and corrupted blood a red circle (similar to reflect) so that player react before it is too late. |

" How are you able to farm 25+ exalted orbs in 75 hours? Read your response. Don't think you can keep that pace... takes too long to pick up the items and vendor on top of clearing the maps. you are very limited to the drops of rings/amulets as well. If I get on a good RNG streak with Amulets I could easily make 10-15 regals in an hour, if i don't I won't be making any. Additionally, it is difficult to trade regal for chaos 1:1 at this point, let alone 2:1 the time it would take to convert the regal--->chaos--->exalt would be longer than the time to farm the regals themselves, by large margin.
