[3.27] Spark of the Nova Trapper Trickster - Lifetap Maniac // Maven Viable & T17 without Boss





Welcome to my Guide. I was try explanation as much as I can. For details and mechanics pls read below links. I'm trying still update this Build every day.

1. FOR WHO IS THIS BUILD

- You love Spark skill?
- You hate self-cast with Spell Echo Support?
Then its Build exactly for you my friend!

Also why Spark Trap comparing to for example Ice Trap? With Sunblast belt we have delayed explosions, Ice Trap hit just one on area and that's all, also monsters often just can running from this. Although Sparks mechanic is great for that style, we are throwing Traps and run through map, but behind us Sparks still destroying everything and bounces from walls etc., is super funny and have a great potential.
2. PROS AND CONS

➕ Generally on budget gear we can start doing red maps
➕ Potential for T17 Maps & Maven
➕ High numbers of Trap Throwing Speed (thanks to Gloves and Cast Speed synergy)

➖ For full potential we need Gloves, which are a bit expensive on start
➖ Sunblast mechanic can be clunky at the start and need a bit practice
➖ Needs a bit more pay attention vs chaos damage monsters, cuz it bypasses ES
➖ We need stack Chaos Res

4. BUILD COST

Based on prices around one week from league start.

- Unique Amu for start = 1 chaos
- Unique Belt = 1 chaos
- Rare Jewel = 1 chaos
- Anoint 5-10 chaos
- Cluster Jewel = 10-20 chaos
- Weapon / Shield / Body Armor / Helmet / Boots / Rings - max to 20-30 chaos each, with that budget you can already buy nice and enough items, some of them you can catch up for a few chaos srs
- Gems to Spark Setup (with Spark) 20 lvl + 20% quality = around 50 chaos
- Unique Gloves = around 50 chaos
- Unique Amu +3 to Spark = 50-100 chaos
- Unique Jewel = around 1 divine


Generally with 250-300 chaos (without Unique Jewel for nice upgrade Build) you can start destroying T16, even T17 should be viable too (boss on here is depends) and easily start other maps like Guardian and trying some Pinnacle Bosses.
5. STATS GOAL

Just number of some stats what Builds can do, some kind of goals we gonna to achieve, ofcourse some of them can be more or lower but it's good state:

- Life and ES pool = 6k
- Spell Damage Suppression Chance = 100%
- Evasion Rating = 30-35k with Grace
- Life regen per sec. = 500-700 with Sulphur Flask on ground
- ES regen recharge per sec. = 500-800
- Trap Throwing Speed Modifier = 100%+ with Vaal Haste + Silver Flask + Arcane Surge + 5x Frenzy Charges
- Average Damage on Spark skill (just tooltip from skill descritpion in-game, in reality damage is way more higher) = 50k+ with Summon Skitterbots + Wrath + Sulphur Flask + 5x Frenzy Charges
- Spark Duration = 3-3.5 sec.
- Projectile Speed for Spark = 140-160% (for cheaper Amu will be 30% increased)
6. LEAGUE MECHANIC

League has mechanic that allows us to pick 2 kind of hands - called Graft with good buffs and skills activating automatically.

1) Nice for rare and Bosses, especially it's shining on Pinnacle Bosses.


2) Deffensive one, Endurance Charges are always good and we have 200% duration on them, so it's great.
7. BUILD MECHANICS EXPLANATION

SUNBLAST BELT

It's first core of this Build and it's cheap. How it works?
- Practically we have Mulitple Traps effect but without dmg penalty
- Downside is our Traps can't be exploded so fast so we need a bit practice where traps should be throwing on ground also "Chance for Traps to Trigger an additional time" is turned off
- Important on Reduced Trap Duration on that Belt (is from 50 to 75) so look for much as you can, why? Trap standard duration is 4 sec., with 50% it's 2 sec., but with 75% is 1 sec., it'so huge difference, cuz like most traps exploded late

SLAVEDRIVER'S HAND

It's another core and main point of this Build but it's expensive. How it works?
- Traps costs life, so Spark Trap is life cost now
- We generate Endurance Charges
- Cast Speed on everything on our gear: tree, flasks etc. = we have more Trap Throwing Speed in 1:1, it's so big

SUMMON SKITTERBOTS

Very important aura. How works:
- They can explode traps (we have 2 of them and each separately have 3 sec. cooldown on it, but they can explode the same trap at the same time)
- Free Shock and Chill aura for us
- We have access to Endurance Charges
- While Sunblast turn off some effects still they can generate charges for us from tree and Gloves with "Chance to gain x charge when your trap is triggered by an enemy"

OVERTHROWING TRAPS

So we are throwing traps but what if we throw over our limit, then what happens, that are good or not? Well:
- On this Build setup we end up of 24 Trap limit
- If you throw 25th Trap the oldest won't explode, just gonna disappear. So that way you can lost some dmg, but it also depends
- For standard clear maps it doesn't matter cuz we don't spam Traps and get a new position so often, unless we fight on some rare / uniques / Bosses / Delve on end of stage
- So while came up spam Traps moment, you have to observe your limit in left-up corner of screen and when you achieve limit of 24 or close, just stop throw just a moment, 1-2 sec. and again spam. Don't overthrowing traps cuz you gonna lose damage
8. LEVELING

Leveling is pretty simply and fun - we gonna playing just gem traps.
Explosive Trap -> 1-12 lvl
Lightning Trap -> 12-28 lvl
Ice Trap -> 28lvl+

- For movement take Frostblink, then you can change on Flame Dash
- From 4 lvl Steelskin is nice additional Shield
- From 8 lvl add Combustion Supp for Trap setup and drop it until you change for Lightning Trap. We put Multiple Traps Supp on setup and our clear is so better, but remember on big bosses always put off Multiple Traps and then you can add another damage support. Also to Trap setup add Supp: Added Cold Damage / Added Lightning Damage
- From 10 lvl you can use Siphoning Trap, it's even helpful to reg life, when we don't have too much of that yet. Also Clarity will be nice to keep mana
- From 16 lvl take Summon Skitterbots Aura
- From 18 lvl add Trap and Mine Damage Supp for your Trap setup. Then next lvls when you will get 4L-5L-6L take some gem / gems Supp from these, which gives you more damage: Added Cold Damage / Added Lightning Damage / Controlled Destruction / Elemental Focus / Concentrated Effect
- From 24 lvl take Conductivity, on 28 lvl change on Frostbite. Also take Grace Aura and you can stack a bit Evasion on eq, so rest of campaign will be easier and less deaths


IMPORTANT! You can start using Sunblast belt already from 37 lvl, but it have delay on traps explosion, although we don't have damage penalty from Multiple Trap Supp so your choice. If you go with that belt i suggest put Quartz Flask for Phasing.
9. SWAPS

SWAP ON ELDRITCH BATTERY

We will be use just mana cost, but next milestone is swap on Eldritch Battery Keystone. Why is so important? Cuz it better for sustain our source to spam. We can use all mana on auras / buffs and just use Energy Shield, also drop off Mana potions totally. When is right moment to swap on it?

It depends, but I can say we need around 500 ES + over 100 ES regenerate (but remember about -50% less Energy Shield Recharge Rate, so in reality you need 200 ES regen to get 100 after that), so node from Trickster Ascendancy Escape Artist is pretty helpful right here, but we need also a lot of Evasion Rating on Body Armor. Remember about downside of this swap - ES not protect our life pool anymore, so we are less tanky.

SWAP ON SPARK OF THE NOVA

There are 2 options:
- You can swap on maps after campaign
- You can swap around 50-60 lvl

Not matter which option you choose, important are 3 things:


1) Duration (from tree is enough, add More Duration on gems is not worth).


2) Projectile Speed (here we need Faster Projectiles Supp + also Amu which is very cheap + mastery close to our 3rd point is literally 1 passive point).



3) Projectiles Pierce additional target (Pierce Support would be great, but it's better option and we get free slot on support, so literally for 2-3 points we have 3 target pierces, it's enough. Also like I wrote above we have path to 15% more Projectile Speed).

SWAP ON GLOVES

Real fun and game is starting right here when we got this Gloves - but can be a bit expensive on league start.


So what to do after put on?
- We respect Eldritch Battery, so we have 4-6 free passive points
- We are starting get Regenerate life per seconds on eq (but honestly I had just Vitality 16 lvl + 50 reg life on just one item and it just enough on maps start)
- Stack Chaos Res as much as possible (flask with 35% is a big on start before better eq)
- You can reserve 100% of your mana
- We literally put Lifetap on every other setups (Curse, Movement, Steelskin another skill to cast). Spark with Trap Supp is already on lifetap with Gloves so don't worry
- Our ES goes (again ;d) to life pool, so you can also stack maximum ES on eq and tree, also Energy Shield Mastery - 30% of Chaos Damage taken does not bypass Energy Shield is very helpful right now
10. PASSIVE TREE

1) Great defensive layer of our Build, while we have tons of Evasion Rating.


2) We stack even a lot of Str for red gems so it's free dmg for Spark.

MASTERIES

1) We need more trap limit, it's so big.


2) More Evasion Rating for free - it's huge while we have a lot of that on Body, also 30% chance to avoid Bleeding, Poisoned and Imapled it's nice. Chance to Suppress Spell Damage is very helpful to get cap 100%.


3) Life is always good.


4) Duration is very important for this Build.


5) Projectile speed is also needed for this setup.


6) It's very helpful to increasing Suppress Spell Damage chance, it doesn't show on character sheet and also doesn't count for Unique Jewel with that synergy. 7) Nice deffensive layer to a bit minimalize byppass our Energy Shield.


8) We need this to activate all auras.


9) Free dmg from Auras.
11. JEWELS

CLUSTER

Our tree is closest to Large Jewel Socket node, just 3 passive points, here:


Very cheap, another increasing damage, throwing speed also 20% Cast Speed from Arcane Surge is free Trap Throwing Speed, so it's brilliant. In summary for 5 passive points we have 76% increased Trap damage.

UNIQUE

It's big and scale with our Suppress Spell Chance, so another great defensive lalyer. Although it's very expensive, but worth of price.

RARE

Rare jewels with res, especially chaos res, here is good spot to fill our res, also you can add life.
12. ASCENDANCY

You can ask why not Saboteur? Cuz Sabo has Chain Reaction, ya that's right - although Sunblast it's much conflict with that node, so it's a bit useless here. Also other nodes aren't satisfied me at all, then I prefer pick Trickster.

1) So big less hits damage and damage over time taken and it got buff.


2) Great for our Build, we stack Evasion and Energy Shield.


3) More deffensive against spells and 50% chance to recharge ES when suppress spell damage is amazing, relatively 100% suppress chance is easy to get, so nerf of deleted 20% suppress chance isn't much painful.


4) Seems a bit useless, but here it changes a lot. With that every type of charge lasts 30 sec. instead of 10 sec., it's good for keeping charges from Gloves on maps, especially Endurance charges.
13. GEAR

ATTRIBUTES REQUIREMENT

Ofcourse with Amu 'Replica Dragonfang's Flight' requirements will be a bit lower cause affix:
Items and Gems have (10-5)% reduced Attribute Requirements

Str - 155 (Steelskin / More Duration Supp)
Int - 155 (Spark of the Nova)
Dex - 155 (Vaal Grace / Vaal Haste)

We are playing just 3 uniques:

1) Belt


2) Gloves


3) Amu - on start 'Karui Ward' is cheap and excellent, then upgrade to 'Replica Dragonfang's Flight' with +3 to Spark, but it's so expensive.

RARES

For offensive stats: lightning damage, elemental damage, spell damage. Cast speed is also nice with Gloves.
For defensive just stack life, ES, regen life, elemental res, chaos res, chance for suppress spell damage.

- Helmet with Evasion + ES
- Shield with Evasion + ES
- Body Armor with Evasion + ES
- Gloves with Evasion + ES
- Boots with Armor + ES (cuz we need 3 red colors) + get Evasion Rating on mods (for activated +15% chance to Suppress Spell Damage)

FLASKS

1) Life
2) Sulphur - additional damage is always good, more regen life is very good and 50% reduced effect of curses on you is great
3) Quartz - Phasing mechanic is very important here, while we have delayed traps explosion
4) Quicksilver - Speed, speed, it's always nice
5) Silver - gives Onslaught, so with Gloves we have 20% movement and 20% trap throwing speed. Here you can easily change for Amethyst Flask if you lacks of chaos res or Flask for all elemental res or something else

Projectile damage and projectile speed is the best option, so we have 3 of them to choice. Although Ballistic is already on passive tree, so we have 2 from these:

1) Projectile Speed and Damage, also Str is nice.


2) Projectile Speed, but Damage from mod can be good too.
14. GEMS

GEMS SETUP

Besides main skill Spark and aura / buffs we needs lifetap on every cast skill, just every should cost life not mana.

1) Spark - Elemental Focus - Controlled Destruction - Trap - Faster Projectiles - Trap and Mine Damage
Spark with Trap support to using this as Traps, also Faster Projectiles is crucial, rest gems for max dmg.

2) Flame Dash - Second Wind - Lifetap
Nice movement skill, with Second Wind we have 4 charges. so it's very nice.

3) Automation - Steelskin - More Duration - Lifetap
Shield for over 2k is great addition and with using Automation we don'tt have to worried about to recast it, but remember about cooldown time of this skill.

4) Conductivity - Hex Bloom - Lifetap |||||| Vaal Grace / Vaal Haste
Curse with lightning res with Hex bloom is very nice, I like use this support on Delve. Also in 4th gem slot take Vaal Grace or Vaal Haste.

5) Orb of Storms - Lightning Penetration - Lifetap |||||| Vaal Grace / Vaal Haste
Amazing against rare, bosses and though enemies. With Lightning Penetration Supp is so helpful to get more dmg on single target and lasts on ground even a a lot of time. Also in 4th gem slot take Vaal Grace or Vaal Haste.


X) Auras
1) Summon Skitterbots - main aura, nice dmg, shock + chill effect, also detonade traps for generate Frenzy and Endurance Charges for us.
2) Wrath - nice damage scaling.
3) Vaal Grace - defensive, much of Evasion, also Vaal version is nice for hot situations.
4) Vaal Discipline - with that we can recharge even while we got damage instantly.
5) Vaal Haste - amazing, besides movement speed we got cast speed what equals more Trap Throwing Speed thanks to Gloves.

You can use also deffensive setup: put Discipline and Vitality, but you need drop off Wrath.

REMEMBER! Don't get link Lifetap with Vaal Grace, cuz it destroying to using standard aura of Grace, with Vaal Haste it's doesn't matter.

LEVEL AND QUALITY

- Keep Lifetap on 1 lvl with 0% quality, it doesn't change anything, but you will refresh buff from these: "grants 20% increased Life Recovery from Flasks for 4 sec."
- Every other gems get to 20 lvl


If we talking about quality, then:
1) DMG setup - Spark is first cuz we got 2 additional projectiles for 20%, then rest of this main setup for projectile speed and max dmg.

2) Movement setup - Flame Dash and Second Wind for faster charge, it can be very useful on Bosses.

3) Shield setup - Steelskin + Automation for less recovery rate, but a small difference, More Duration for duration shield is nice.

4) Curse setup - for Conductivity is doesn't matter while Skitterbots have shock aura, for Hex bloom difference is minimalistic, but can be good in some areas.

5) Weakness setup - for Orb of Storms can be useful on pack monsters, but on single target is useless, Lightning Penetration gives more dmg to Orb of Storms, but it's not our main dmg so not not worth.

X) Quality on Auras gives nothing, unless you play with someone:
- On auras: Wrath, Grace
- On Vaal skils: Vaal Grace, Vaal Haste, Vaal Discipline
- Maybe on Summon Skitterbots more movement can be a bit useful but I don't think

HOW TO ACTIVATE ALL AURAS

We are playing 3 auras: Summon Skitterbots, Wrath and Grace, but they reserve over 100% mana, so what we need to activated of all them?

- Around 900 max mana (with Amu 'Replica Dragonfang's Flight' will be less)

- 2 nodes for 'increased Mana Reservation Efficiency of Skills' (8% and 16%)


- 1 node 'increased Mana Reservation Efficiency of Skills' on Mana Mastery (12%)
15. BANDITS

Help Alira for 15% all elemental res, cuz we need stack all of 4 res including chaos
16. PANTHEON

1) Major - I like Lunaris, cuz movement and physical reduction, but Arakaali seems good too, especially +40% chaos res against over time when you don't have much chaos res yet




2) Minor - Ralakesh is better choice, but again if you lacks of chaos res Shakari can be good before

17. MAP MODS

- Cannot reg life is totally destroying us
- Less reg life / ES can be a bit painful
- Suppress chance is unlucky might be dangerous against some moobs
- Any chaos mods can be annoying cuz byppass of ES
- Lower our action speed can suffers us too
18. GAMEPLAY

In gameplay is like typical Trapper, but mechanically it's just Spark.

- So throw some Traps on ground (we are throwing 3x per one cast with Sunblast), go further, again throwing, etc.
- If you fight with rare / unique / Bosses / Delve on the end of stage remember about overthrowing traps mechanic or throw some and avoid attacks
- Run, run, run and always have up Quartz Flask with Phasing
- From time to time our Skitterbots will detonate traps, so then explode will be faster
- Cast Conductivity on big pack monsters, Hex Bloom it transfers Curse to another monsters
- Cast Orb of Storms with Lightning Penetration will helpful to take out rare, but remeber we have to be close to cast this skill where we want
- Don't forget to cast Vaal skills for extra stats and defense
- If you have in hard situation or you struggle with though mods on rare, just run, back off and wait for regen life and ES, we have good range to throw traps, so you don't have to risk
19. CHANGES FOR HARDER MAPS & T17 & PINNACLE BOSSES

On more harder maps or annoying mods We can playing in more much defensive way - just throws trap ahead of us and slowly movement through the map. Also can a bit improve our chance to success fight on T17 maps or to these Bosses doing these:

- Replace Hex Bloom for Siphoning Trap, extra regen life will be good
- Flasks: Drop off Onslaught flask and pick more defensive or just life flask, also for even more you can replace Phasing flask for another life flask
- In Pantheon: take Soul of Solaris it's pretty good here, with captured upgrades way more better. Also pick Soul of Ryslatha for life flask charges.


20. IN SUMMARY

Build is fun, nice hybrid for Traps and Spark fans, easy to learn and something not typical. You can playing in aggressive way but also in deffensive style on some content.

First vision of that Build was creating on league 3.26 but from start league 3.27 I was learn so much about leveling, then swaps for better ways to get on maps and finally min-max in endgame.

Honestly I was very surprising that Build can destroying T16, doing T17 without bosses and even doing Pinnacle Bosses, with budget cost. I'm very proud and happy of this to invent this Build and share with you guys. I hope you will be enjoy like me.

WARNING! about Ballistic anoint. It seems bugged currently - gives dex, but not projectile dmg or speed



I will test yet Fury Bolts if works

So the best option probably will be just Longshot with 30% projectile speed

UPDATE TO Build


I tested Fury Bolts anoint and it works properly, so only Ballistic is bugged for some reason. Then we have 2 option in anoint:
1) Fury Bolts
2) Longshot

Edit:
Ballistic isn't bugged, just I'm dumb, cuz we have it already on passive tree ;D


Also I was try Maven fight for fun and just I'm bad player and it's need a bit changes from standard version Build (maybe I was should pick one more life flask instead of Onslaught flask, put on Siphoning Trap for extra life regen etc.).

But in summary it's absolutely viable without tons of divine orbs:

UPDATE TO Build

1) Upgrade done from last days:
- Pob updated
- Unique Jewel for more deffensive
- Replace 'Chance to trigger addtional trap' for '+15% chance to Suppress Spell Damage if Equipped Helmet, Body Armour, Gloves, and Boots all have Evasion Rating'
- A bit changes passive tree in one place to get more points and additional jewel

2) New things:
