Corrupted Incinerate skill gem becomes bricked and unusable

I have tried three times to get a +1 corrupted Incinerate skill gem on my character. The gems work initially, but each time the gem becomes permanently bricked somewhere in the process of swapping gear/weapon swapping. The information panel also becomes bugged (see screenshot above). It is not possible to bind the gem or use it after bricking.

EDIT: I have observed the same issue with a skill gem corrupted with added quality, but a "no change" corrupted gem works just fine.
