Accuracy for Grenade Merc

So whats the current consensus? Does Accuracy really impact AoE? After taking Keystone with Medved modifier, nuking my accuracy, gem tooltip shows over 2x decreased damage numbers for any grenade. However for what reason it includes accuracy/evasion calculation for AoE explosions?
