Why can't Barrage spell be inserted into Cast on X or Invocation kind of autotriggers?

I don't get it. It's pretty regular buff spell. You want stuff like this to work in semi-auto mode. But for whatever reason I can't use it with any triggers. Is there any logic to this? Or is it "just because" kind of exception?

Im not sure, can other buff spells with cooldown be slotted into cast on x skills? Never tried it, but I would guess its the cooldown.

" It's not a channeling spell. " idk about buffs, but Sniper's Mark, for example, has cooldown and yet can be used with trigger skills. un-tested slog fest. everything is so stupid. for example Incendiary Shot has AoE tag but you cannot socket aoe gems :-?
