Global Chat reverting to Local when using keyboard on Console

As the title states, I am on XBOX Series X and when I open chat using a controller and have GLOBAL selected and click A to open the on-screen keyboard, i can type with my controller or keyboard and hit send and it will post the message to GLOBAL chat.

Now, if I just use the keyboard and hit ENTER to open chat, it still shows global is selected. If I type a message, intended for GLOBAL chat, and hit send once typed it changes to local chat and posts the message. Happens every time without question. When you start with the keyboard it always goes to local UNLESS I type in /global and get the # prompt, which doesnt always work. Then I can send to GLOBAL with no controller input.

I cant imagine this is working as intended.
