If the damage sucks... why play this build? There's a few reasons. Firstly yes it's not a giga-damage build capable of farming highly juiced content. But make no mistake... for general map farming (Alch and Go all Tiers) our scorpion minion 1 taps every white and blue mob it attacks and is an unstoppable force that widdles down Rares and Bosses while our Juggernaut stands unbothered; armored like a Mountain VS a hail storm. Secondly this build is super easy to gear and progress in maps, especially in Trade league. For 30 chaos or less not only are you Godly tanky... but your relentless and literally 'invincible' scorpion minion clears Rare Red maps with ease. 1 cold iron point and The Golden Rule jewel are all you need to start your successful warpath through maps. Thirdly 99.9% of the time this is a 1-button build. This is a watch streams/tv shows on a second monitor build. I've recently tested Winter Orb to apply virulence stacks and found it worked great. So we don't even have to AIM anymore. Just stutter step/channel through maps and stand still and channel in the Bosses terrified face. Ah it's just too easy guys. I'll give an honorable mention to the fact this build is easy on the eyes and the PC. Now I enjoy seeing cast on crit, screens exploding, 1000 projectile, flicker strikers with 20 APS as much as the next Wraeclastian - but give it about 10 minutes then I don't. This build is plain. I shoot a few ice shards. My scorpion shoots a few tail spikes. Enemies turn to corpses. Simple. It keeps the screen very readable in combat and keeps the FPS above 60! LEVELLING To be honest guys leveling isn't my strong suit! But it's fine because the gem Summon Raging Spirit exists :P I recommend getting this gem from Witch (from completing 'Breaking Some Eggs' quest) to level your Marauder with and just cruising staying a few levels above area level so your SRS gem is high level/damage. I did a Act 1 Path of Building so you know how to start SRS and feel strong. Level 17 - https://pobb.in/rUl_JFLh--kC From there it's just do the usual things... get life, resistance, upgrade to a 4-link, etc etc You can swap to Herald of Agony after Library quest in Act 3 if you want. I usually do that... but be aware you get the gems from Library as level 1 so you'll need to level your Herald of Agony + supports up before progressing. Ideally you'll find/use a 4 link by library for either SRS or Herald of Agony going forward. And 4 link is plenty damage to finish entire campaign on either skill. I like to switch to Herald of Agony early so I never have to worry about mana issues which will happen with SRS as it levels up/gets more gems etc. UNIQUE ITEMS USED ![]() NOTE: The Golden Rule is a dangerous item. Poisons we deal are reflected back at us also. It's part of the reason we keep our Winter Orb level and Chance to Poison Support level as low as possible (the other being mana cost). Now it should be noted there is a Rare Shrine in Maps called 'Gloom Shrine' (https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Shrine) which gives us 'Enemies you Kill have a 40% chance to Explode, dealing a quarter of their maximum Life as Chaos Damage'. This damage can poison and it will kill you if you kill a high health enemy and its POP poisons surrounding enemies. Like this kills me in 0.1 seconds... so beware and avoid this shrine. If you click the shrine you can right-click the buff at the top of your screen to get rid of it. The Golden Rule is very cheap all league - 1-5 Chaos orbs. ![]() +3 to physical spell gems gives our Herald of Agony big damage and boosts our Determination gem too This item generally start off more expensive then become dirt cheap after 1 week of new league. So 20-30chaos early down to 1-5chaos orbs later. ![]() Ashes is the BiS Amulet for Herald of Agony. It gives a nice +1 all skill levels but its real value is the upto +30% quality of all skill gems. This gives us +7 virulence stacks on our Herald of Agony. This amulet gives more damage than Replica Dragonfang's Flight. Also boosts our curse damage, lowers our flame dash cooldown, and makes our Winter Orb virulence generator fire faster. Great item! Great items like this will cost you. You're looking at 2-4 Divine Orbs depending on the quality roll. ![]() Circle of Nostalgia let's us afford our 6-link Herald of Agony with its mana reservation efficiency mod. This goes up to 40% but we can then use mana catalysts to get a further 8% reservation efficiency. The buff effect mod on the ring is useful for giving us up to 12% chance to poison on a 60% buff effect roll. The other thing I like on this ring that I look for is the implicit 'regenerate 0.3% life per endurance charge'. The ring pictured will cost around 1 Divine Orb. ![]() Saffel's Frame is a great defensive shield. The +4 all max resistances helps us eventually hit our resistance hard cap of 90% Early on this item is dirt cheap at like 1-5chaos. Later on we look for the corruption of 'reduced extra damage taken from critical strikes' to trivialize crit enemies which can cost 1-2Divine. ![]() This was a new find for me in 3.26 and it turned out great. It gives us consecrated ground basically all the time which is huge life regeneration. I paid 6 Divine for this like 2 weeks into league. ![]() Stormshroud is used to give us immunity to all the nasty elemental ailments. This includes Shock, Freeze, Ignite, Chill, Sap, Brittle and Scorch. Very strong defensive item worth it's price. The mana reservation corruption is a min/max thing for Uber Bosses and not required until much later. Early on this'll be expensive 1-2 Divine orbs. Week or so in it should come down to under 100 Chaos or so. ![]() Far from required for this build but a nice quality of life item. The reduced extra damage from crits while affected by determ is useful to trivialize crit and the gain life per enemy hit while affected by vitality is not needed, I didn't use it after I equipped Mageblood but before then this mod let us get 600 life per second hitting them with our Winter Orb projectiles. For just the reduced extra damage from crits while affected by determ mod should be quite cheap 20-40chaos. If you want the vitality life on hit mod as well then you're looking at 3-5 Divine then. ![]() Timeless jewels are stupid and confusing. But they're in the game and give some strong benefits. So the most important thing here is to use a Glorious Vanity with the Xibaqua written on it so a nearby keystone on your passive tree turns into Divine Flesh. You don't need to use 3707 specifically but the small passives around where you insert Glorious Vanity may differ from mine depending on that number. Yeah it's all very dumb and confusing... in Path of Building you can find which number will benefit you the most using the Find Timeless Jewel feature at the bottom of the program UI. It's confusing as heck so I'll leave it at that! This jewels have a wild range of prices on them depending on the number. 3707 is decent and will cost you 1 Divine or so... but you can find them from 10-20chaos up to 5 Divine too. ![]() Ok. This is the big ticket item. Mageblood. This item isn't required for anything but Uber Maven (but honestly this thing makes EVERYTHING about the build so much better and is worth every Divine paid). It gives us resistances to free up item mod slots, lets us cap our max res to 90, cap armour above 50k while freeing up a bunch of tree passives, turns us into Sonic the hedgehog, corrupting blood/bleed immunity, curse immunity, and it frees up jewel slots + amulet annoint for stormshroud immunities. Again only needed for Uber Maven but makes playing the build 100x better. Prices vary WILDLY but you're looking at 200-300 Divine ballpark. Be patient and buy an uncorrupted one for 50-100 Divine more. You can use Divine Orbs to get the flasks used to it's maximum of 4 then... you can't do that on a corrupted one. Uber Maven Fight + Tanking all her Memory Game's video COMING SOON! ![]() ![]() Relevant Patch Notes from 3.26: -Winter Orb: Now has 80% Effectiveness of Added Damage at all gem levels (previously 60%). It now deals 39 to 49 Cold Damage at gem level 1 (previously 30 to 37), scaling up to 360 to 450 at gem level 20 (previously 270 to 337). It now has a Maximum of 8 Stages (previously 10), with 30% increased Duration per Stage (previously 25%). It also now has 125% more Projectile Frequency while Channelling (previously 150%), and 20% increased Projectile Frequency per Stage (previously 15%). I don't forsee this having any impact on the build. We sustain max virulence stacks comfortably. Change = 25% less projectile frequency + 20% increased projectile frequency overall. I don't precisely know the impact though because projectile frequency isn't something shown in PoB which I rely on. -Infused Channelling: While Channelling a Supported Skill, you now take 12% less Damage from Hits (previously 8%). 4% less Damage from Hits while channeling. Pog Mercenary ![]() ![]() In Mercenarys of Trarthus league I have been having success with the Kineticist Mercenary above. It is mostly geared with items to boost my Juggs damage but it also kills map trash extremely well. Here is a PoB to show the exact items my Mercenary is using: Mercenary Gear PoB: https://pobb.in/yBzCa6mL_gCr Mercenarys with attack skills will want accuracy. I wasn't aware of this at first but when I learned this I found the amulet was sufficient for hitting everything in T16 mapping (which is important to give us Frenzy Charges from the Mercenary shield). It's also worth noting that Mercenarys share the players default 1 curse limit and can override Snipers Mark with curses they inflict. For this reason I use 2x Doedre's Damning rings bringing the number of curses that can be on enemies to 3. I biggest priority is stack attack speed, cap their resistances and hope they're otherwise fine. I did T16 Alch and Go mapping (specc'd into Breaches) and all Pinnacle Bosses with the above Merc and it never died (in fact it barely took any damage!). I also killed 7/7 Uber Pinnacles with my Merc and he died to during Uber Sirus and Uber Searing Exarch. He lived through all the other fights like a champ and I rarely used our 'Merc convocation' skill to reposition and heal him. I didn't use it at all during Uber Maven as I was solely focused on pressing my Molten Shell skill to survive. "The key to winning any fight is simply staying alive." " Still in Herald of Agony stage atm. Level 88 - Character name 'WeSpooderAgane'. I'm not the fastest cab on the rank. Haven't had any big drops either to power my gearing progression. I plan on doing a new post update and YouTube build progress video every week or so. So Friday will have some news for ya. Spoiler though...
