1H and Shield Cyclone slayer?

I'm wondering if taking a build that's meant for a 2h, and slightly changing it to hit the shield nodes near them, if this build would be good?
Obviously not as much damage, but higher defenses. Wondering if its going to be too significant of a DPS loss or not??
