PoeHUD for Standard Softcore Only as Core Feature

I know this has been discussed already that PoeHUD is against the Terms of Service and is considered a cheat.
I do agree that it is somewhat a cheat because it provides a huge advantage to the player using it.
However, it also provides a huge quality of life improvements to the game that should already be a core feature of the game.

Some examples include:

- Permanent health bars on enemies
This shows health bars on enemies even before hitting them with any damage. This makes it easier to spot them. If you imagine yourself in the game world as the character, you would see enemies standing up but seeing it from the screen, looking down, they are kinda flat (in a way, especially those ground snakes). Yes, I know this is something my eyes will train to see and spot eventually but a permanent health bar will help me see them instantly as you would, if you were the character in the game world.

- Minimap icons
This shows minimap icons of strongboxes and trapped essences around you. Makes it easier to spot them. Also shows mob locations on minimap.

- Item drop indicator
Shows where currency drops or items that gives currency (e.g. R-G-B, 6 socket etc) are located relevant to your position with an arrow. Playing with a lootfilter, yes, you can hear the in-game sound that tells you those have dropped. But some builds like arc trapper will clear multiple mob packs instantly and you would have no idea where the drop is, making you go back and forth searching for the drop, wasting time. Currency drops and item drops are 'rewards' and the game should tell us where our rewards are.
Q:"What if I'm a rich as f magic finder and I don't pick up basic currency? Those arrows will be annoying"
A: Turn it off in the UI options.

- Show item level on top left corner when mouse hovering an item
Because why do we have to press an extra keyboard button (ALT KEY) just to see the item level?

- Map preload information
This shows if the map has a strongbox or essences or a vaal side area. This tells the player what 'extra rewards' we can get by clearing this map.
Q: "Players will abuse this by creating infinite new instances until they get what they want"
A: "Only allow creating new instance if monsters remaining count is 50 or less. Destroy previous instance when new one is created for server stability (because no one actually goes back to previously created instances). As for maps from the map device, well it's player's loss by throwing away an uncleared map".

- Auto pickup plugin
Seriously why make us pick up currency one by one after opening a strongbox or an Izaro's chest?
Such a huge inconvenience and waste of time.

These are just examples of features that gives a huge game play and quality of life improvements.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, for those saying "These features are not in the game because it's not how GGG wants you to play the game".
Well fair enough but this is a pretty good analogy I read on a different forum. Not copy pasted word by word but this is the idea.

"
You buy a car. The car doesn't have a pre-built navigation system. So you download Google Maps on your phone and use that instead. The car manufacturer finds out and reports you to the police, who then sees that you are using a 3rd party program and puts you in jail.

If this actually happened in real life, well, a lot of things will go to shit. But this is what I feel like when GGG is banning players for using PoeHUD, something that should've already been implemented to the game as core features.

Yes, I know that some PoeHUD features actually are cheats that we deserve the ban hammer for using. But these ban deserving cheats all comes from plugins such as Auto Flask, Auto logout, Auto Move Items to Stash (this is no different to using a bot) etc. However, PoeHUD without any plugins is just pure improvements to the game that the game should already have.

I'm not whining about GGG banning players for using a 3rd party program that gives advantages. Players that use programs that put themselves at a huge advantage over other players should indeed be banned. But what if these features are implemented into the game? What if everyone gets the improvements? Then no one is at an advantage over another and every player will get a huge boost to the quality of game play, making the game even more enjoyable and relaxing (as games should be).

I understand that GGG wants players to play the game in a certain way they intended us to play. But please keep in mind that a lot of us are just casual players that plays this game to cool off after a long day from school/work, with only an hour or two of playing per weekday. This is just my assumption but people like this usually only play Standard Softcore league. Hardcore players and streamers are usually the ones that play the game full time. They are the ones that do races and play on new leagues as soon as they start (again, just my assumption).

I also understand that GGG doesn't want players using PoeHUD for races, which include actual prizes, and the start of new leagues are very important for competitive players. But as stated above, casual players don't play competitively. We don't try to be the very best and start new leagues on the dot. We just want a casual, relaxed game play experience that can cool off our minds from the days' work.

What I'm trying to say is that while PoeHUD is considered a cheat that is against the Terms of Service, it is also something that should be in the core features of the game. I'm not saying GGG should import the entire PoeHUD into the game as is, but just some features like the ones listed in the examples at the very top. Also while taking into account how GGG wanted players to play as they intended, the importance of races and new leagues, this is my proposition.

"
Implement some features of PoeHUD into the game as core features only for standard softcore with no plugin support

This way, casual players can play casually and enjoy the game even more, while hardcore/competitive players can play as GGG intended.

you know probably brought the same "quality of life" argument when talked to your parent cause you wanted to know the presents they wanted to give you 5 months in advance.

a game lives from surprise events, when something drops it builds up suspension and immersion. knowing everything in advance kills that.

because players are dumb, ggg already killed the excitement of players who were being afraid of certain monster types (although your "QoL Tools" also warned about reflect monsters" with the same arguments).

if they also kill the excitement of discovering ingame items, there is no game anymore left to destroy.

They've added things from poehud into the game in the past, so hopefully they will continue.
And dont forget about Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem
Or instead of advertising cheat software you could just delete your account and maybe play another game.
This isn't his account in case you haven't noticed.

This is clearly a player used to abusing program and would rather he didn't have to live scared from ban and get it integrated.

Hope the poor guy didn't write this from his own IP :D

the only thing i really would love to see are the permanent healthbar and permanent visible itemlevel...

Autopickup? what the hell...

... ah:
"
Seriously why make us pick up currency one by one
...
yeah, great difference to
"
Move Items to Stash (this is no different to using a bot)

never read sucht a BS. Autopickup is the same.

Those arent core features and the navigation metapther lacks as well. its your car and laws are allowing you google navigation.
Its neither your game nor account and its not allowed.
Deal with it.
well.. i havent seen what the tool in question does. but from the looks of it (reddit looks) it does some obvious cheats, some semi-cheats (that is cheats but ones that people in general find understandable) and non cheating QoL features

it is not a secret that QoL is VERY low on GGG's list of priorities. the last major wave of QoL improvements was implemented after people were massively using cheats to just have a bit of QoL. maybe the history repeats itself

im pretty much no longer playing - the game got dumb with all this IDIOTIC power creep + wazzzzoo design (arc! statsticks! covnersion! penetration! and other bs) that i lost any respect to the product. but i see many people still play.

it is only after you move to other titles when you see that it is 2018 and some QoL and configurability is a standard. standard that current POE doesnt meet.

simple things like auto-sort, bulk-buy (from vendors) etc are there so people DO NOT WASTE THEIR LIVES. some games can make players hook without resorting to pure TIME TAX techniques (click 560 times to link and item, click 500 times to color it, click 2000 times to convert currenty.. where is a skill/challenge in that? it is busy work in place for players to think they are doing something useful)

i do not endorse cheats (game is dead for me the moment i think about cheating) but i fully understand why people strive to get some QoL features. basic Windows Calculator has more QoL polish that this game

previously it wasnt such a deal - game was difficult, people had to actually play it - right now it is just a clicker where everyone is a hero and the only activity is a mindless grind. and for a game like this current QoL is inadequate

So, first, let's remind everyone that third party softwareare often used to sneak malware on your computer, and may compromise at best your PoE account, at worse your bank account. This is a major reason not to use this kind of software.

It is very reasonable to discuss what ideas to take from the features available in that software, but the software itself should under no circumstances be promoted (I'm going to ask for references to it to be removed, though moderation seems to be on vacation).

So, should the options be implemented in PoE? Let's look at them:

1) Permanent health bar. This is rather a debate as to whether you should increase visibility or not of monsters. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with that, as long as it doesn't apply to monsters that are meant to reveal themselves as you walk by, like statues.

2) Minimap icons. Essences already have icons, and I don't think there's any reason why strongboxes shouldn't get the extra visibility that special content gets.

3) Item drop indicator. This is starting to get on the highly debatable terrain. I don't know whether it should be implemented or not, but it is reasonable to expect that if it does get implemented, it can be modified through the item filter. It is going to advantage a lot players savvy with the filter, and may improve clearspeed by removing yet another layer of attention needed to loot.

4) Item level without Alt key. Seems reasonable.

5) Map preload information. This is way too abusable, and the game with the remedy would likely not be better than without the functionality at all.

6) Auto pickup. Blindly adding auto-pickup to the game would probably be a bad thing, though there is a case to be made not to drop the idea altogether.
First, there is extremely low level currency (scrolls). Many players skip scrolls because they are completely worthless. You need huge amounts of them to get even a single chaos orb through trade, and the 7 to 1 ratio from portals to the next currency at vendors makes it unreasonable to spend any time with them. They could just as well put them in a special part of the inventory where you can accumulate as many as you want, auto-loot them and remove them from vendor trades, so that they are removed from the economy. But even that may be too much credit given to these currencies, as they could just as well be removed from the game without anything lost.
Secondly, there is other currencies. While an actual auto-loot would probably be an issue, a change could be made so that when you loot one currency item, you loot all nearby currency items that fit in your inventory (only items with filter set to visible, of course). This would make picking up groups of currencies a lot more palatable.
Thirdly, currencies should act like perandus coins => At the start of the game, they drop one by one, but as the game advances (basically, depending on area level), the currencies should drop more rarily, but with multiple items in the stack. Of course, this doesn't apply for the currencies that hardly ever drop at all, like divines, exalts, etc...

PS: Any feature taken from this software should be given to everyone, not just standard players.
I just got a warning and I understand why. I'm not trying to make excuses, I just want to explain why I started using it in the first place.

Im partially handicapped, missing 4 fingers in my right hand. Naturally that makes gaming a bit of a challenge. Over the years I got used to it more or less. One of the main issues though is the rampant precice clicking I need to do to pick up currency. About an hour into game play I start getting intense pain in my wrist that would last sometimes a couple of hours. So When I found out there was an addon that can help me I jumped on it. It made my experience playing the game so much better and though I knew there was a chance that some action would be taken against my account. I hoped I'd be able to appeal and maybe they'd detect (if they could) that I didnt use any of the other functions in the addon.

I really enjoy the game and every few seasons I come back to check how the game evolved. I hope that in the future they can add this function. It would reduce the amount of extreme clicking you need to do in the game. I also understand there are people who dont want this feature in the game but for me, personally it's almost a must.

I support GGG either way. They made a great game and keep evolving and innovating on it to make it even batter.
Handicap is a very reasonable reason for the request for auto-loot.
Generally speaking, this game (as many others) is lacking in handicap-friendly design.
I'd personally argue that making the game more handicap-friendly should trump the worries about bots, though if they could find another solution that wasn't as subjected to the bot issue, then it would be even better.
