Reave Build Gear improvement help

hey guys ive been playing for about maybe 3 weeks now and have been enjoying every bit of this game. Ive decided to go with the reave skill as its pretty fun to play and havent been bored with it yet. Im pretty much sort of lost at this point. Ive been doing some maps, mainly tiers 1-3, 4 is a bit tough on the boss.
any insight or help would be greatly appreciated, just need some sort of direction at the moment.
